WELCOME TO HOLLAND

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel.

It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives.

You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay. The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met. It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned." And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But ... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

Yesterday 9th January 2012, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim accepted a verdict that most people thought otherwise. DSAI, the Opposition Leader will now work on Pakatan Rakyat offer to the people of Malaysia as the next alternative government.

Their experience at the moment are State Government of Kelantan, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Selangor and for a short period Perak.

Can they do it ???

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Barisan Nasional on the other hand governs Malaysia (the Federation) and all the other states. With all the transformation agenda, and the goodies offered to the people during the 2012 Budget, will hope to maintain governing the country and win back lost grounds.

Can they do it ???

I have only one vote, how about all the others eligible voters ????

The Pencil and Eraser

PENCIL
I’m sorry

ERASER
For what? You didn’t do anything wrong.

PENCIL

I’m sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you’re always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

ERASER

That’s true. But I don’t really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I’ll be gone and you’ll replace me with a new one, I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They’re always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

All my life, I’ve been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I will be left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.

How many of us actually realize all this, life is like a cycle, although a PENCIL will never be an ERASER, a son or daughter will one day be a father or mother (ie Parents), and therefore the cycle will begin. If you learn during your journey, you tend to make less mistakes. However, like it or not, with this changing world you need to adapt, learn, innovate and be creative.

2012 is a Leap Year

Yes this year we have an extra day ... as if most people care.

Just like its just another second, min, hour, day, week, months and another year. I thought its just awhile back since the world celebrate 2011 ... and just so suddenly its already 2012. Well all over the world, the owner of fireworks made a lot of money, they would have wished that New Year is everyday.

Here in Malaysia, we hope it will be a better year. Better for the family, in all area. Hoping for the kids that goes to School, be it Primary, Secondary and University to do well. It does not get any easier, but life goes on and all must learn to cope with it. As parents it gets much and more difficult by the day. They smarter by the seconds nowadays.

What ever it is, time flies faster that a speeding bullet.

So GOOD LUCK you all ...

RM100.00 & Pelajar Sekolah

Dengar kata, esok sekolah-sekolah diseluruh Malaysia akan mula menyerahkan RM100.00 kepada setiap pelajar yang layak. Maka, kalau ikut perangkaan dari Kementerian Pelajaran, ada lebih kurang 5.3 juta pelajar, jadinya 530 juta ringgit akan diagih-agihkan lah.

Banyak tu ...

Tapi ... kenapa ya?

Dah kerajaan nak bagi duit, kita ambillah ... bagi yang bayar INCOME TAX, kira DISCOUNT lah RM100.00 tu, yang tak bayar tu, kira HADIAH la. Bolehlah beli, beg, baju, kasut dan sebagainya untuk tahun 2012 ni.

Tapi barang-barang tu makin mahal la ...

ILMU & BAHASA

Yang mana lebih penting ? ILMU atau BAHASA ???

Mestilah Ilmu ... tanpa perlu lagi perdebatan. Dengan ILMU sesiapa sahaja boleh menguasai BAHASA, tetapi dengan BAHASA tidak semestinya seseorang itu dapat menguasai ILMU. Maka hari ini sejak sekian lama kita di Malaysia masih lagi ditakuk lama bercerita tentang BM (Bahasa Melayu) ke atau English (Bahasa Inggeris).

Tapi ini adalah cakap orang politik yang mungkin tak ada lagi anak yang bersekolah di Malaysia atau anak-anak mereka bersekolah di International School ataupun di luar negeri.

Bagi pendokong Bahasa pula, dah kerja mereka, tapi dah lebih 50 tahun MERDEKA, tak selesai-selesai lagi cerita ini. Kalau kia kaji, mesti ada silapnya.

Apa yang membuatkan Bahasa Thai berjaya di Thailand, atau Bahasa Indonesia digunapakai secara menyeluruh di Indonesia oleh semua golongan masyarakat mereka. Berberapa kenalan saya yang berbangsa Tionghua yang pelat berbahasa Melayu, menjadi fasih dalam Bahasa Indonesia tidak berapa lama apabila mula berkecimpung diarena perniagaan di Indonesia dan perlu berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Indonesia di sana. Bila mereka berkomunikasi, bahasa utama mereka adalah Mandarin, tapi sekiranya perlu mereka mengunakan Bahasa atau slanga Indonesia dengan baik.

Kenapa ???

Saya berpeluang ke Indonesia satu ketika dulu, dan pergi ke kedai buku untuk mencari buku baru, judul-judul terbaharu telah siap dialih bahasa ke Bahasa Indonesia. Ini bermakna, mereka tidak mahu rakyat mereka yang mungkin tidak memahami bahasa asal hilang hak kepada isi buku, baik fakta mahupun cereka.

Di Negara kita pun, kalau kita ke Terengganu atau Kelantan, orang dari kaum yang buka melayu berbahasa denga slanga Kelantan atau Terengganu tak ubah macam orang Melayu, kalau tak tengok rupa atau "face to face" mungkin ingat melayu.

Kenapa boleh ???

Dulu-dulu masa sekolah tahun 60 han - 70 han, kita tak ada masaalah bangsa dan bahasa. Sekarang ni slogan sana sini, bahasa entah kemana, perpaduan dan perkauman makin teruk lagi. Semuanya pasal yang bercakap tentang bahasa dan perpaduan tidak ada keikhlasan.

Masa tu, ada English Medium, Sekolah Kebangsaan dan SJK (C) & (T). Tapi sejak berapa lama ni, "English Medium" dah berkubur, maka dengan sendirinya kefasihan dalam ber Bahasa Inggeris juga merudum. Yang menariknya ... Bahasa Melayu (ada yang sebut Bahasa Malaysia) tak kemana juga.

Kalau di kajilah agaknya, beraparamai murid Melayu dari Tahun 1 hingga Tahun 6, Tingkatan 1 hingga Tingkatan 5/6 dan yang di Kolej atau Universiti yang Bahasa Melayu mereka baik atau cemerlang !!!

Yang dari bangsa lain, tak pasti lah.

Dah cuba PPSMI ... tak nak ... sekarang nak cuba pula MBMMBI (entahlah betul ke tidak), itu TDM ini TSMY, lepas tu nanti siapa jadi PM/Menteri dia tukar lagi. Apa mereka ingat anak-anak kita ni boleh test-test tengok mana boleh dapat undi banyak ke. mereka tu dulu, sekolah mana, "English Medium", "Malay School" ke atau belajar kat "Oversea".

Dah ada polisi baru, bila ada pihak yang tak setuju (PAGE & JMM), dia buka kesah sangat, dia ada kuasa. Lepas tu ada pula yang ambil jalan mudah, ikut aje macam Kerbau di cucuk hidung (NUTP dan PIBG Nasional), kita ikut aje lah.

Nampak gayanya, IBUBAPA kena buat sendirilah, kalau nak anak-anak berjaya dapat ILMU, kenalah usaha dari luar, kalau mampu dan ada duit, ajar sendiri atau bayarlah orang lain ajar. Pada yang tak mampu, apa boleh buat ... pak Menteri pandai sangat ... teramat pandai.

Dah sampai masa dah, Pelajaran dan Pendidikan dikeluarkan dari kekangan POLITIK, ini masa depan anak-anak kita, ia mesti diletakkan dibawah satu SURUHANJAYA yang bebas dengan semua pihak yang berkepentingan diberi ruang untuk memberi pandangan dan membuat keputusan. Kerajaan yang memerintah perlu menyediakan "Geran KHAS" dari belanjawan tahunan dibawah kawalselia SURUHANJAYA tersebut.

Adakan AKTA khas, semua anak-anak Malaysia mempunyai HAK kepada ILMU yang terbaik, dengann apa bahasa pun.

Kalau ikut angan-angan manusia (seperti dalam filem Hollywood), tahun mereka yang kaya sedang menunggu untuk naik kapal canggih untuk menyelamatkan diri dari kemusnahan yang bakal tiba ... kononnya macam nak kiamatlah ...

Nasib baik lah itu cerita yang tidak "ramai' percaya, tapi ada juga yang percaya sebenarnya, walaupun bila sebenarnya kiamat akan menjelang.

Yang gila bola, "Euro 2012" akan tiba, dan Negara-negara Eropah yang syok bertungkus lumus berusaha untuk melayakkan diri, sampai nyayok Wayne Rooney, marah tak bertempat tak pasal-pasal kena Kad Merah kerana menendang dengan segaja pemain Montenegro. Apalah bodohnya, duit banyak tapi bahalol, tak pasal-pasal nanti perlawanan pertama Euro England yang dah layak, tanpa dia.

Tahun itu juga London akan menganjurkan Sukan Olimpik 2012, temasya sukan terbesar didunia.

Apa lagi ya ....

Oh ya, di Malaysia kita telah dihidangkan dengan Anggaran Perbelanjaan tahun depan (2012) atau Budget, oleh buat pertamakali Pakatan Rakyat, dan pada hari jumaat yang baru lepas (7hb Oktober 2012) Kerajaan Barisan Nasional, pimpinan Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yang juga Menteri Kewangan pula membentangkan "Official Budget".

***Sejak Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim kena 'sack' oleh Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir (sekarang Tun) pada tahun 1998, portfolio Menteri Kewangan 1, dipegang oleh Perdana Menteri dan diadakan menteri Kewangan 2.

Sejak tu, PM dah tak yakin orang lain pegang portfolio kewangan kot ???

Banyak dah analisa yang dikemukakan oleh bijak pandai ekonomi dari dua-dua belah pihak, dan rakyat biasa tentang perkara ini, yang suka, gembira dan bodek tak habis-habis serta yang sedih dan dukan dan kutuk tak habis-habis juga.

Kita sedang meneliti juga, yang bagus dan baik kita ucap terima kasih, anak sekolah dapat RM100, kalau ada tiga anak, dapat RM300.00, yuran sekolah tak payah bayar. Ada anak kat Universiti, dapat voucher buku RM200, ada dua orang dapatlah jimat RM400.00 kerana buku .... mahal-mahal buku, yang 'original' lah, sekarang ramai yang main 'photostat' aje tak mampu.

Itu yang senang nak ingat, yang lain tu nanti kita perhalusi.

Tapi ramai dah juga yang kata 'confirm' Pilihanraya 13 akan menyusul dalam masa enam bulan ni, walaupun yang pasti tarikh Parlimen tamat pada April 2013.

Tun Dr Mahathir kata, Budget 2012 Pakatan Rakyat adalah Budget poket kosong dan senang nak janji itu dan ini. Tapi apa juga yang dirancang oleh sesiapa sahaja untuk masa depan adalah tetap rancangan, lebih-lebih lagi oleh mana-mana kerajaan dalam proses mereka menjalankan tanggungjawab sebagai pemerintah dalam Sistem Demokrasi. Pihak Pakatan Rakyat yang buat masa ini pembangkang hanya ingin membuktikan bahawa mereka juga merancang satu "Alternative Budget", supaya rakyat boleh menilai. Sebab itulah mereka lebih dahulu menyampaikan sebelum "Official Budget".

Kerajaan yang memerintah perlu meyakinkan rakyat bahawa mereka perlu diberi kepercayaan berterusan untuk terus mentadbir negara, kerana apabila rakyat merasakan bahawa perlu kepada perubahan, mereka hanya perlu memilih alternatif kepada kerajaan yang ada pada masa itu.

Itu sebabnya, kadang-kadang terlebih gula-gula tanpa 'substance', gula sedap kita makan, undi tak tentu lagi, kerana rakyat sekarang, terutama yang muda-muda tak mudah digula-gulakan.

Perlu diingati bahawa berbeza dengan "Budget" atau "Business Plan" syarikat swasta, apa juga yang dirancang oleh CEO dan "Board of Directors", selalunya lebih berpihak kepada "Shareholders", dan sangat kurang melebihkan "Stakeholders" yang lain, iaitu pekerja. Ini kerana CEO dan BOD perlu mengembirakan pemegang saham yang sememangnya tuan punya syarikat tersebut.

Era transformasi telah bermula, hanya bezanya keyakinan individu-individu berbeza-beza.

"Salad Bowl" theory ...

I read this opinion in a letter written by Suren, from Malacca in The Sun dated 20th September 2011 and would like to borrow and share it.

It started of with a quote from Mahatma Ghandi ....

"Unity to be real must stand the severest strain without breaking"

Unity as the word says means oneness. But unity or being united means more than what many perceive. It can be divided into two :

Agreeing and coming together for a common identity or agenda
Patronising a common goal/agenda/ideology totally even by sacrificing the self interest/ideology/importance/gains for the common goal.

Now the first part is not much of a trouble. Freezing the condition at this point and calling it unity would be an act of hypocrisy because at this state one can't say that the state of togetherness is unity but rather a surface of common togetherness.

For example a group of individuals from different backgrounds like a restaurant and visit the place without fail - this state is called "togetherness on a common ground". Unity is far more than the feeling of togetherness.

Now the second part is best described with the analogy in place where the outlet is threatened with demolition. When the same group of individuals put aside differences, disputes, personal comfort and time, and all other attachments and come to the rescue of the outlet then unity is in action.

When the second scenario takes place in defence of the nation or dealing with a national issue despite people's differences and personal importance then the nation is worthy to be called united.

It's a difficult task to stand united when clear cut differences are present. This is best described by an analogy of a salad bowl with different types of vegetables. The combination makes up one dish called salad but each vegetable maintains its qualities despite sharing the bowl with other types of vegetables. The different items sacrifice their individuality when named a salad; a tomato in a salad is still a tomato but we call it a salad after it is put in the salad bowl. Thus the tomato has lost its individuality by being assimilated in a larger group. This is the type of unity practised by Malaysia.

The United States and Indonesia subscribe to the melting pot concept where all differences are eliminated by boiling it down to a single substance, the nation. This can be described as induced assimilation which does not permit varied identities.

We as Malaysians should always be thankful for the "salad bowl" model of unity practised here as it allows every one to maintain their culture, values, norms and faith in peace and freedom. The key to sustain and maintain peace and harmony is tolerance, mutual respect and understanding, the salad bowl will always remain a wonderful dish and pleasant to the eye of the world.

Agreeing to the "Salad Bowl" model, what we Malaysian should further look at actually is the dressing. If you like Italian, Thousand Island or what ever that suits your taste bud, it is well and fine. However, should it be otherwise that we shall eat less or stop eating.

Lets imagine that the political party or their respective grouping or coalition as the dressing in this big "Salad Bowl" call Malaysia, and small "Salad Bowl" call all the 13 states. It taste good for some, and bitter for others.

Accept it, respect it, but one thing is for sure comes the next election GR13, be sure you vote the dressing that suits you best. That is if you had already register, if not please do so immediately or else you forfeit your right and you yourself is to be blame.

Merdeka dan Sejarah Malaysia ...

Sejak akhir-akhir ini sejak Mat Sabu (Timbalan Presiden PAS) mulakan cerita, kita mula mendapat pendedahan Sejarah dari pelbagai perspektif. Yang sokong Mat Sabu, dan yang marah kerana apa yang Mat Sabu cakap atau apa yang sesetengah pihak kata Mat Sabu cakap.

Tapi kita nak tanya sikit lah ... apa yang dimaksud kan dengan sejarah?

Ramai yang akan berkata dan ramai pula yang mengaku atau diakui sebagai ahli atau pakar sejarah. Dan dari semua orang-orang ini, ada yang kata jangan pandai-pandai nak tukar sejarah.

Masa kita sekolah dulu, matapelajaran sejarah tak ada ... yang ada Tarawih ... oops sorry bukan ... TAWARIKH. Betul ke ejaan tu, dah lama sangat pun.

Memandangkan terlalu ramai yang mau kita percaya dengan Sejarah Malaysia, dan apa yang kita baca mempunyai pelbagai versi, "OFFICIAL" atau sebaliknya, kita kena buat kajianlah sikit, tak boleh baca dan percaya bulat-bulat ikut kata orang-orang yang perasan "PAKAR". Nanti kita minat kat belah sini, belah sana marah, minat belah sana belah sini marah pula.

Ayah saya yang alhamdulillah dah berumur lebih 80 tahun (lahir 1931) telah melalui zaman Malaysia yang pelbagai, dan dari beliau saya dapat banyak juga cerita atas pengalamannya sendiri. Beliau pernah menjadi Pegawai Polis berpangkat Sarjan sebelum berhenti atas sebab-sebab tertentu. Masa zaman tu Boss beliau Orang British lah, jadi beliau kira Polis British atau Polis Di Raja Malaysia ??? Ini macam Sarjan Jamil (Bukit Kepong) lah, nasib baik ... alhamdulillah kerana beliau masih bersama kami. Kalau tidak mungkin saya pun sibuk angkat "PLACARD" marah kat Mat Sabu.

Kalau tak silap saya ... mencatatkan apa yang terjadi semalam tu seperti apa yang terjadi secara sebenarnya ... itu lah yang dikatakan sejarah. Yang baik dan menguntungkan adalah sejarah yang baik, tetapi apa yang buruk dan merugikan adalah sejarah yang buruk dan perlu diambil pelajaran dan dijadikan iktibar.

Contoh ...

Esok ... 11 September 2011, maknanya 10 tahun yang lalu World Trade Centre di New York, USA telah di langar oleh 2 kapalterbang yang mengakibatkan lebihkurang 3000 orang terbunuh. Banyak cerita banyak versi, dan dari insiden tersebut banyak serangan dan lebih banyak nyawa terkorban.

Yang mana satu sejarah dan apa yang terjadi selepas perkara tersebut berlaku? Betul ke versi yang "OFFICIAL" atau ada cerita disebalik cerita?

Lagi satu contoh ...

Arab Spring ... Tunisia lah, Mesir lah, Yemen lah, Libya lah ... semuanya satu sejarah, kalau satu ketika dulu Muaamar Ghaddafi adalah hero Libya, sekarang ni ... dia macam pelarian yang orang belum tahu dimana dia. Semasa dia naik itu sejarah dan bila dia jatuh juga sejarah, apa juga yang dia lakukan untuk Libya, baik atau/dan buruknya juga sejarah. Akan ada cerita rekaan dan akan ada cerita benar, "REBEL" hari ini akan atau telah jadi Pemerintah atau Kerajaan.

Jadi di Malaysia kita ni macammana ????

Untuk diri kita dan generasi akan datang, kita kena buat kajian lah dulu ...

Hari ini, kita merayakan Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. Setelah sebulan Ramadhan berpuasa, kita merayakan hari ini dengan gembira.

Ada banyak Rumah Terbuka di seluruh negara, kalau rajin cari dan sanggup beratur kalau rumah yang ramai "peminat", tak kiralah Raja, Pemimpin juga pelakon atau penyanyi. Bagi anak-anak adalah dapat "Duit Raya", makan kuih dan minum air gas.

Masa untuk mengeratkan silaturrahim, tapi memandangkan lagi satu raya tak lama lagi, maka akan adalah mereka yang lebih ghairah nak jumpa sana sini ... maklumlah Pilihanraya.

IF its TRUE ... can they be charged with TREASON?

All this story about people who are not entitle to citizenship are getting one. Morning MyPR afternoon MyKAD. If this is not true, and this people are deserving because they wants to be a Malaysian, as they denounce their former country and ever willing to be patriotic and DIE for Malaysia that will be great.

By the way, what actually is the criteria for one who can be accepted as a citizen? Through some of my known friends, it took years before they can get the "IC Merah", just to talk about genting citizenship.

Worst still, they can even vote ... WOW.

NOW ... all this news are only in the alternative media, while the MSM are very quiet. If there are such news, its all denial in the shortest form. It should be easy to check confirm and justify, isn't it, if one is SERIOUS enough to do it.

So PLEASE ... pretty PLEASE, all you who are in the know, get this out in the open, and do it fast, or else we will be in big TROUBLE.

And for me, if anyone is caught really doing this, can we charge them with TREASON ???

Harapan Berkecai ....

Harimau Malaya gagal menjinakkan SingaPURA apabila hanya mampu seri 1-1 dalam pertandingan kelayakan FIFA World Cup 2014 walaupun disertai sokongan lebih 85000 penyokong di Stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil. Walau bagaimana pun, tahniah kepada seluruh pemain dan barisan jurulatih yang berusaha dan memberi harapan kepada rakyat Malaysia.

Tak pa, kita tumpukan pula ke Harimau Muda dan Olimpik 2012, masih ada harapan ke London 2012.

What is the problem with us (our government) actually ??? Changing name here there and everywhere. 122 years ago it was Lake Garden, then it was Taman Tasik Perdana (1975) and now Taman Botani Negara.

RM35,000,000.00 (Thirty Five Million) some more.

Well just wondering did Hyde Park, Kew Garden, Central Park and or Royal Botanical Gardens in London, New York or Melbourne became famous because they changed their name or they are famous because they are FAMOUS for what they are GARDENS.

In Shah Alam, there is Taman Pertanian Bukit Cerakah, which later became Taman Pertanian Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam which now is known as Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam.

Airspace encroached by Singapore 2,508 times since 2008

The Malaysian airspace has been encroached 2508 times since 2008 by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in written reply to Khairy Jamaluddin (BN Rembau). He also gave a breakdown of airspace violations : 2008 - 985 (average 164 monthly), 2009 - 1,286 (average 107 monthly), 2010 - 218 (average 18 monthly).
From January to May 2011, 19 aircraft were detected with an average of four incidents a month.

So what actually did we do about it. Can they simply fly as they wish within our airspace, and why don't we shoot them down.

We had a nice outing to Tasik Kenyir last saturday, it was a short fun outing with the family, a boat ride, a good cool waterfall dip at Saok Waterfall of 14 waterfall available. This was our 2nd trip, after about 17 years ago. The kids enjoy it, and so do we. The boat trip RM120.00 and after negotiation, 2 boat for RM200.00.

It was cheaper, but the cost of petrol has skyrocketed says the boatman, and they need to ferry the petrol all the way from town as there are no nearby petrol station.

Just wondering and thinking aloud ... how this area can be really World Class ???

Memang dah lama dah kita tak setuju pun, kita mengharapkan agar PDRM dan seluruh anggotanya berada seberapa dekat dengan kita, kita tak takut ... TAPI ... penyanggak yang kecut perut.

Kita ni bukannya berani sangat nak buat salah (terutama bab lalu lintas lah) tetapi terkadang, dah seronok tekan minyak tak perasan dah lebih had laju, nasib baik tak ada mato-mato, rupanya sedang menyorok tengah longkang, balik pokok dan sebagainya.

Selain dari itu, kita nakkan anggota PDRM ni semua 'respect', bukan takut, bila respect semua akan memastikan kita ikut peraturan dan undang-undang. Kalau ada peraturan atau undang-undang yang mengarut tu, kita akan "highlightkan", dan kalau perlu diubah, kena ubahlah oleh pihak-pihak yang berwajib.

Kita nakkan, bila ada aduan, cepat siasat, jangan cepat cakap atau komen yang buat orang marah, kata aje "Pihak PDRM sedang siasat, dan kita akan terangkan dalam masa ..." . Jangan terlalu lama, kalau lama update rakyat, jadi tak ada rasa tak selesa.

Bila ada tuduhan pihak PDRM berat sebelah, kenalah buktikan dengan tindakan yang boleh meyakinkan. Semua rakyat mengharapkan tata-urus pentadbiran yang baik. Kakitangan Awam bertanggung jawab kepada rakyat menyeluruh, kerana bila mana pembuat dasar berubah, baik di Parlimen atau DUN, mereka masih tetap boleh bertugas seperti biasa.

Kalau sekarang ni, had laju maksima 110 kmj di lebuh raya, kata lah saya MP, salah seorang pembuat dasar, dan saya dapat yakinkan MP semua, kita perlu 220 kmj, kerana kereta semua dah canggih dan pemandu-pemandu kita dah setaraf dengan pemandu F1. Anggota PDRM dah tak payah susah-susah nak tahan dah.

Lagi satu, kes Samseng Jalanan (aka matrempit), bila agaknya kita dapat dengar yang perkara ini telah dapat dibenteras sepenuhnya. Tak kan lah kapcai dan budak sekolah tak habis belajar (ada juga yang belajar tinggi), boleh kalahkan Anggota PDRM yang pakai Motor yang berkuasa tinggi.

Saya pernah tulis dahulu, bila tangkap, masuk lokap, sita motor dan kalau bawah umur, tangkap dan masuk lokap ibu atau bapa atau kedua sekali.

Kalau tak serik tak tahu lah.

Dengar cerita, IGP dah keluar hospital, alhamdulillah, semoga cepat sembuh dan terus bertugas bagi kecemerlangan PDRM dan Negara.

Oh ya ... bila nak charge orang yang tunjukkan video lucah kat umum, itu dah kira salah tu, melain kan apa yang Pak Menteri Nazri Aziz cakap ... bukannya satu kesalahan.

Tahniah Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM).

Tak kiralah dah berapa lama, yang penting dan utama ialah agar badan ini menjalankan tugas dan tanggungjawabnya dengan penuh dedikasi dan tidak "kenal bulu". Menjaga ketenteraman awam dengan penuh rasa ikhlas, membenarkan apa yang betul, dan memastikan hanya mereka yang betul-betul bersalah dibawa kemuka keadilan.

Ya ... di bawa ke muka keadilan, bukan menjadi hakim.

Kita biarkan mereka yang dipertanggungjawabkan perkara keadilan menjalankan tugasnya.

Secara umumnya, masyarakat umum menghargai setiap usaha dan komitmen PDRM, tetapi oleh kerana berberapa kumpulan minoriti yang gagal memahami tanggungjawab ini, maka nama baik PDRM telah terpalit. Bak kata pepatah melayu, "kerana nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga".

Ramai yang mungkin ambil mudah tugas anggota keselamatan kita ini, tapi lebih ramai yang menghargainya sekiranya mereka pernah mendapat bantuan dari PDRM. Sebaliknya, ada juga yang terpaksa menghadapi segelintir anggota yang mencemarkan nama baik PDRM.

Sempena hari ini, kita mengharapkan agar Tan Sri IGP memastikan agar nama baik serta kerja murni pasukan ini terbukti untuk keadilan umum dan akhirnya rakyat akan merasa yakin bahawa mereka ada pelindung yang jujur dan ikhlas.

Dan ...

Penjenayah, mereka yang melakukan kesalahan secara sengaja, perasuah mereka yang mengambil bukan dari hak nya, dan sesiapa juga melakukan sesuatu dengan niat merosakkan orang lain akan merasa GERUN dan TAKUT.

Kalau boleh biar mereka sampai terkencing dalam seluar.

Orang banyak atau pemimpin, dalam kerajaan atau dari pihak pembangkang ... Tak kisah lah ...

Kalau la MACC tu dapat kepercayaan rakyat sepenuhnya kan ke senang. Bila ada yang tak kena, terutama sekali yang berkaitan dengan RASUAH dalam negara, ada badan yang rakyat YAKIN, maklumlah Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM-MACC).

Siap aje kerja mereka, cukup fakta ... maklumlah orang semua YAKIN ada bukti, dengan siasatan yang sempurna untuk mencari kebenaran dan seterusnya disampaikan pada AGC yang juga orang YAKIN.

Perseorangan Lelaki : Malaysia kalahkan Indonesia ( tahniah Lee Chong Wei dan Misbun). Nasib baik la kita ada Chong Wei, dan dalam Berita Harian hari ini Misbun kata : Hargai permata ini. Betul tu, kalau tidak terkedu kita. Yang lain habis kena sapu dik Negara China. Punyalah ramai wakil mereka, kita agaknya kalau BAM lebih tumpukan kepada kejayaan dari politiking mungkin boleh balik pada zaman kegemilangan kot.

Ketua Pembangkang DSAI ajak/cabar PM Najib "DEBATE", baguslah tu, perjelaskan kepada umum, kan senang rakyat buat andaian ... kata orang putih "FAIR and SQUARE", apa nak ditakutkan, kenalah buktikan keupayaan masing-masing. BETUL orang nampak, KELENTONG pun orang nampak. Alih-alih, Nazri kata bahas dengan dia dulu, nak jadi macam Shabery Chik ke?

Jadi apa juga sekalipun, yang kita ada tetap 1 undi. Bila PRU13 akan diadakan terpulanglah kepada PM Najib. Paling awal kata mereka Mac tahun ini, boleh ke 8hb Mac 2011, atau sama dengan DUN Sarawak paling lewat Jun atau Julai 2011.

Kalau sistem 2 Parti dapat terus berlaku maka mudahlah rakyat nak buat keputusan, kerana siapa yang boleh meyakinkan mereka, akan dipilih. Tetapi rasanya akan adalah pertandingan 3 ke 4 ke 9 penjuru ditempat tertentu, adakah itu amalan demokrasi atau saja nak kacau daun, itu pengundi kawasan tertentu kena pilih lah.

Kalau lepas PRU12 dulu semua pihak berusaha memperbaiki diri serta parti masing-masing kan senang, ini tidak, kacau sana kacau sini, lompat sana, lompat sini ... akhirnya kelam kabut. Ini belum lagi cukup tempoh dah nak cerita "SNAP ELECTION", takut takut nanti terkedu, masa tu baru padan muka.

Negara ini kita yang punya, kalau dibandingkan dengan Negara-negara lain, ramai yang sebenarnya dengki sakan dengan kita, tapi kita sedar ke dengan apa yang kita ada. Memanglah yang kena kebas pun banyak juga, itu antara berberapa perkara yang perlu terus ditangani dengan lebih efektif. Kalau salah dan terbukti, banyak JEL-JEL yang boleh menampung mereka ni. Syaratnya pastikan sistem awam yang berkesan, kerana ramai yang kurang meyakininya. Ingin diulangi bahawa sistem awam kita perlu tidak menyebelahi mana-mana pihak melainkan melaksanakan tugas mereka mengikut undang-undang serta peraturan yang sedia ada.

Kalau orang BN salah tangkap, kalau orang PR salah tangkap, orang miskin tangkap, orang kaya pun tangkap juga. Kalau ada mereka dari kalangan kerabat di raja yang tidak mengikut Perlembagaan pun perlu diambil tindakan yang sewajarnya. Adil biar adil keseluruhan, jangan pilih bulu. dengar cerita, Perlembagaan kita tu dah 600 kali diubah, kalau betul untuk kebaikan bagus, kalau rasa ada kekurangan ubahlah lagi, janji Malaysia lebih berjaya lebih harmoni.

Nak rakyat jadi lebih patriotik, biarlah saksama, jangan ingat awak patriotik, saya tidak kerana tidak sependapat dengan anda. Kalau saya tak sokong 1Malaysia tapi saya Cinta Alam Malaysia adakah saya tak PATRIOTIK ? Sama juga macam Zahid Hamidi kata mungkin mereka yang kurang berminat masuk ATM tu tak patriotik, ramai tu kalau guna statistik.

Oh ya, saya masih sokong kita bina Jambatan Bengkok (scenic bridge) di Selat Tebrau, agaknya ada harapan ke?

Tapi ... PNB jangan bina Menara 100 tingkat dengan duit RM5 Billion tu, bangunkan Kampung Baru lagi baik, mula kan Amanah Saham Kampung Baru (ASKB), nilai harta di Kampung Baru, 'convert' jadi saham.

Walaupun, terkedu di Stadium Gelora Bung Karno malam tadi, apabila kalah 2-1 ditangan Indonesia, kemenangan pertama di Stadium Bukit Jalil dengan 3-0, memberi ruang kepada Malaysia membawa pulang Piala Suzuki AFF dengan agregat 4-2. Oh ya ... USD100,000.00.

Maka bergembiralah lagi rakyat Malaysia apabila PM Najib, mengistiharkan bahawa 31hb Disember 2010 sebagai cuti umum. Seronok sakan lah semua yang bekerja, yang dah memang cuti boleh 'claim' balik ke cuti tahun, dan yang mana kena kerja dapat lah 'claim overtime'.

Kita sememangnya perlukan kemenangan ini untuk menaikan semangat rakyat Malaysia, dan ramailah nanti nak tumpang 'glamour' . Now suddenly people can have excess to info that could be true or just here say. The problem is that the person saying it, all this while he/she thought that no one or nobody can have excess to what was said, now suddenly it was recorded as such.

Lee Kuan Yew says this, Mahthir says that, Bush says so, Ahmad DiNejad says otherwise. In the end who do you believe, what good does it do to you. When the statement concur with the way you think, you say see he does it because so and so says so. What if ... what if what was leak says something that is against you?

Malayan Railway ... KTMB

Just came back from Penang, well actually Seberang Prai by rail. Sinaran Mutiara 11pm (delayed to 12 midnight) due to late arrival of the train from Singapore. Just imagine if the double track is ready, this might not be an issue.

But ...

there is a stop order by CM Lim Guan Eng because the work on the double track could be the cause of the flood in Kedah, and he is worried that this could happen to Penang (Seberang Prai). He needs guarantees by the contractor's (MMC-Gamuda). Hopefully it will be for the benefit of the people and not unnecessarily politicize.

Its been a long time since I last took the train, but surprisingly, nothing has change, except the ticketing. This made me think, if the money spend on the double track gonna be worthwhile, when basic requirement for passenger on the train 1st class (RM67.00), Economy (RM34.00), or at station and Terminal are so out of date and very minimal.

All over the world, rail transport plays a major role in land transportation, and I do hope we will be able to this a reality, but really ... not sure with what I experience last night.

Next ... took the KTM Kommuter to Shah Alam, jam packed (which means there are demand), but the train condition and its frequency should be enhanced. KTM should also take advantage of all its stop, station and create a viable commercial centre.

Soon ... KTM South bound will stop no longer in Tanjung Pagar ... now this is what PM Najib wants, but I do not agree, and I think that most Malaysian do not think so either.

Actually ... is it reversible ???

Berapa ramaikah yang akan mendapatkan Inspiration?

Suka dengan tidak, akan ada yang menyokong, seterusnya membuat tempahan (ada yang dah tempah pun dan mungkin dah ada diatas jalan raya), dan ada yang sedang nak 'test drive', ada juga yang sedang isi borang dan tak kurang juga yang tak dapat nak pakai kerana tak mampu, atau dah kena 'blacklist'.

Dan ramai juga yang akan kutuk dan kondem macam MP dari Kinabatangan tu, atau pun mereka yang sewaktu dengannya, tak kira lah dari BN atau PR. Yang kaki kutuk dan kondem ni, akan terus dan sentiasa kutuk dan kondem, kerana pada mereka disebabkan oleh Proton, mereka tak dapat pakai kereta resmi yang selain Proton atau pun disebabkan oleh Proton harga kereta lain menjadi lebih mahal.

Tapi ...

hakikatnya, mahal ke apa, masih melambak lagi kereta jenama lain di Malaysia ni, jadi pada yang mampu, beli ajelah kereta lain tu, lagi ramai yang beli, enjoylah, pada yang kurang mampu, tax yang dia orang bayar tu dapatlah kat kita secara tak langsung.

tak kurang juga yang kata tukar label aje, dah tu mula dari tukar label la, macam la pembuat lain tu tak tukar label? Yang beli Proton tukar Mitsubisbi tu biasa la, perodua tukar daihatsu, dan Toyota Harrier tukar Lexus tu ... apa?

Tun Dr Mahathir pencetus idea Proton ni, ada cerita bab Proton Exora yang menang satu pertandingan kat UK, baca disini. Ini tentang teknologi hijau dan hybrid. Mungkin dalam masa yang akan datang, yang kaki kutuk dan kondem ni jadi peminat. Yang utama, Proton kenalah sentiasa memperbaiki mutu dan yang paling peting 'after sales service' kena lah yang terbaik. Selain dari, Jepun (Toyota/Nissan/Mitsubishi/Mazda ...), Korea (Kia/Hyundai...), Itali (Fiat/Ferrari/Meserati/Alfa romeo ...), Jerman (Mercedes/BMW/Volkswagen/Audi ...), Perancis (Peugeot ...), UK (Austin Martin/Jaquar/Rolls Royce ...) dan sebagainya. Ada juga dari Russia, India. Tapi ...

Malaysia juga di iktiraf sebagai pembuat kereta. Baru lagi ... 25 tahun aje, tapi kena sentiasa tingkatkan kualiti, supaya kita sama sama berbangga. Industri ini akan terus berkembang, ramai yang mendapat manafaatnya, hanya usaha yang lebih serius perlu.

Adakah kita keadilan begini ???

Akhirnya, cerita tentang Hakim Pao yang berusaha menegakkan keadilan dapat dilengkapkan.

Perancangnya sebenarnya adalah anak Raja Chai (Chai Yu) dari Dinasti yang terdahulu. Peta lombong tersebut diberikan oleh datuknya yang pada waktu dulu adalah Maharaja yang di guling kan. Chai Yu merasakan lombong tersebut milik keluarganya dan ingin mengumpulkan emas dari lombong tersebut bagi membina kuasa tentera bagi mendapatkan balik tahta yang terlepas. Dia merasakan dia berhak.

Akhirnya dalam penyiasatan Halim Bao, serta perbicaraan yang dilakukan, Cjhai Yu didapati bersalah dan dihukum pancung. Dalam proses memancung mengunakan Pancung Kepala Naga, Raja Chai ayah Chai Yu telah datang ke Mahkamah membawa satu satu "perintah Maharaja" dimana boleh dilepaskan dari dihukum mati. Tapi Hakim Bao telah menolak kerana perintah tersebut hanya untuk Raja Chai dan bukan untuk anaknya. walaupun dipujuk dan Raja Chai sanggup melepaskan haknya, Hakim Bao terus bertegas untuk meneruskan pemancungan.

Akhir cerita, Chai Yu yang di tuduh perancang utama pembrontakkan dan juga menyebabkan ramai rakyat yang dipaksa melombong emas terbunuh di pancung.

Yang menarik dari siri ini, ialah keadilan dapat ditegakkan walaupun ...

1. Raja Chai dari kerabat di Raja,
2 Rakan rapat Hakim Pao.
3. Anak raja tidak terkecuali walaupun ada "perintah maharaja"
4. Pilih kasih dalam menjalankan tugas.

Apa juga, yang sebenarnya diutarakan adalah keadilan yang diharapkan oleh semua. Kita di Malaysia hari ini amnya sangat-sangat mengharapkan keadilan serta kejujuran. Undang-undang ditegakkan, kejujuran dalam menjalankan tugas, tak kira bangsa dan keturunan, miskin dan kaya, saudara atau orang biasa.

Walaupun pernah berjasa, kalau ada kesalahan yang dilakukan, maka layaklah dia menerima padahnya. Sekiranya KEADILAN dapat ditegakkan, rakyat akan merasa yakin. Sebagai rakyat yang bersyukur, yang baik kita terima dengan hati gembira, tetapi yang salah, tidak jujur dan yang paling utama menyalah gunakan kuasa perlu di tentang secara sah dengan mengunakan sistem kehakiman yang sempurna.

Oleh yang demikian, kita sangatlah berharap.

Istana Keadilan = Keadilan cara "Justice Pao"

Sejak berberapa minggu ini saya berusaha untuk tidak ketinggalan menonton satu siri drama cina di TV2, RTM, iatu "Justice Pao" diantara jam 6.00 - 7.00pm. Bukan pun faham bahasanya, tak pasti pula, mandarin ke, cantonese ke atau hokkien ?

Tapi, jalan ceritanya menarik. Dah berberapa kali ada cerita dengan thema "Justice Pao" ni, tapi tak pernah pula minat nak tengok, tapi kali ini, seronok pula.

Jalan ceritanya mudah, tak berbeli-belit, ada sistem kehakiman pada zaman Maharaja Cina, dinasti mana tak la pula ingat, tapi keadilan ditegakkan dengan keupayaan Hakim Pao ini yang sangat telus dan jujur, disokong oleh penjawat awam yang berdedikasi serta sokongan padu Maharaja sendiri. Jadi secara tidak langsung, apabila ada aduan, ia akan di siasat dengan telus dan teratur serta berhati-hati bagi memastikan bahawa tidak ada fitnah, tidak ada pilih kasih dan sebagainya yang akan merosakkan keadilan yang sepatutnya.

Apabila tersabit kesalahan, maka "Hakim Pao" mempunyai menjatuhkan hukuman dan dijalankan terus, di penjara atau sekiranya dibolehkan, di Pancung. Ada pancung kepala anjing, kepala singa dan kepala naga. Agaknya ikut orang dan jenis kesalahannya.

Ada dua tiga kes yang telah selesai dan hukuman dijatuhkan. Isu yang sedang keudara sekarang, ialah cerita seorang Datuk Bandar yang terbabit dalam kes melombong dan mencuri emas negara. Datuk Bandar ini berjaya membunuh orang-orang yang tahu akan pembabitannya, maka hakim ini terpaksa mencari bukti yang dapat mensabitkan kesalahannya.

Apabila menonton siri ini, kita bertanya pada diri, adakah ini cereka seronok, atau ia boleh berlaku dalam kehidupan harian. Baik kes berprofil tinggi sekarang, atau apa juga kes yang sedang tertunggak.

Baru-baru ini, MACC dan AG ada berkata yang ada kes mereka gagal/kalah kerana perkara teknikal. Bagaimana ini terjadi, ambil mudah atau tidak berupaya atau sengaja tak cukup bukti? Kita sangat mengharapkan agar keadilan di tegakkan.

Adakah hari ini, dengan satu bangunan yang canggih di Putrajaya "Palace of Justice" dan semua mahkamah yang ada mengikut kategorinya, dapat melaksanakan keadilan yang sewajarnya.

Kita sangat-sangat berharap.

Well you see this "NUMERIC 1" everywhere, on shirts, t-shirts, caps and different design other than the regular one with colours of Jalur Gemilang. What you have yet to see, is a real 3D structure that are practical. Since so many people are so proud of this new symbol, it is only fair that the new tower design depicts the already "famous" numeric.

Even ... the idiotic middle finger probably has lost out to this pointing finger in Malaysia. If we cannot build the tallest building surpassing the Burg Khalifa of Dubai, at lesat it will be the tallest Numeric 1 in the world.

Maka dengan ini telah diistiharkan bahawa Melaka telah diiktiraf sebagai negeri maju, sehinggakan ada seorang Senator yang bernama Akbar Ali, Bekas Timbalan Ketua Perangkawan dan Pengarah Eksekutif Majlis Tindakan Ekonomi (MTEN) Melaka, mencadangkan agar MB sewajarnya dianugerahkan Nobel Prize dalam pengurusan ekonomi negara.

Kalau tengok statistik, dalam NST, sungguh menakjubkan. Bila agaknya negeri lain nak ikut jejak langkah Melaka ya.

Kenapa 100 tingkat ? Kan ke bagus 200 ke, 300 tingkat, kata nak jadikan ikon baru.

Buat masa ini, bangunan tertinggi di dunia, Burg Khalifa kat Dubai sana, kita buat lah lebih tinggi dari mereka, jadi berbaloi lah kita berbelanja, tak kiralah apa orang nak kata, sekurang-kurangnya bila dulu orang kata Petronas Twin Tower bangunan tertinggi dunia buat seketika.

Tapi yang sedihnya, tempat nak buat tu biar betul, dekat dengan Victoria Institution, selain dari Stadium Merdeka dan Stadium Negara. Kalau tak silap mana ada tempat nak bina, dan macammana nak control trafik kat sana.

PNB nak belanja 5 billion, banyak tu, kalau saya offer buat 4.5 billion, boleh dapat kontrak tu ke??

Manalah tau, bantu jimat 500 million !!!

FAM dapat RM 20 juta untuk buat Akademi Bola Sepak. Lepas ni boleh ke pasukan bola kita lebih berjaya? Kalau masa Sukan Commonwealth yang baru lepas di New Delhi, ada sukan bolasepak, ada peluang dapat emas ke, sukan Asia akan datang bagaimana?

Tahap bolasepak kita buat masa ni tidak langsung menunjukkan peningkatan. Dalam Piala Malaysia, juara Liga Super, Selangor pun dah kalah pada Kelantan. Penyokong yang penyanggak kira dah nak sama dengan "hooligan" luar negara, tambah pula kat Perlis, ada batu yang melayang, nasib baik tak kena sesiapa, lalau tidak mau pecah kepala.

Apa pun, harap dengan Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan (juara tahun lalu), Kedah dan Johor FC, Piala Malaysia akan bertambah menarik.

Today the games shall end and hopefully, we can get at least 12 goal medals if we counts all the possible 4 badminton medals that we have representatives in the finals. At the moment, we have 9 G, 8 S, 13 B = 30 TOTAL.

As soon as the games end, next up will be the Asian Games. Again, Malaysia will be pinning hopes on the same athletes for handful of goal medals in Guangzhou.

Tahniah Malaysia kerana menang kalahkan Korea Selatan.

Siap ada satu iklan dari FA Terengganu mengucapkan tahniah. dapat Datuk Pahang lah pengiklan tu ... kalau belum dapat lagi lah. Tapi ... ya lah, di Malaysia ni siapalah yang berani nak cabarkan? Lagi NASIB BAIK, salah satu Timbalan Presiden DARI KELUARGA yang sama, senang nak bincang masa sarapan, makan tengah hari atau makan malam.

Agaknya arah manalah kejayaan bolasepak negara. Kalau berjayalah Rajagopal dengan anak buahnya, maka berjayalah pengurusan FAM, tetapi sekiranya gagal, Rajagopal kena cari kerja lain. Dah cukuplah tentang bolasepak Malaysia.

Hammam Presiden AFC kata dia akan sokong Qatar untuk menganjurkan Piala Dunia 2022 melainkan mereka tarik diri. Lepas tu barulah dia akan sokong antara yang lain seperti Korea Selatan, Jepun atau Negara Asia SESAT, Australia.

Apa agaknya yang sedang difikirkan oleh FAM ya?? Bila lagi mereka semua tu nak letak jawatan. Cakap berdegar degar, semua tak bagus, sejak zaman berzaman, bolasepak kita merudum, tak kan tak faham faham lagi.

Dah lah tu ... tapi hanya untuk rekod :-

Oh ya, Azzuddin(Setiausaha Agong FAM) kata Korea selatan nak datang Malaysia, dah lama tak datang, tapi tak ada seorang pun pemain dari kelompok yang main masa Piala Dunia 2010, tapi masih yang bagus-bagus. FA Korea pun kesian kat Malaysia kot, nanti kena belasah teruk malu pula tuan rumah.

Tapi itu dulu ....

Sekarang ni, dik sebabkan anak saya minat sangat kat bola, kena ambil tahu juga, siap belikan jersi Team Malaysia lagi. Tapi hairan juga ya ... kat baju tu hanya ada logo FAM, tapi bendera Malaysia tak ada pun. Jadi kalau kalah pun yang kalah FAM lah kot, Malaysia tak.

Sepanyol dapat jadi johan FIFA World Cup 2010, dengan kemenangan 1.0 menggalahkan Belanda di Afrika Selatan. Sebagai juara, hadiahnya adalah lebih kurang RM100,000,000.00 (kalau betul la kosong-kosong tu). Belanda dapat USD 24 juta. Kira ok lah, siap kungfu kick lagi, main tak sampai 2 jam masa final. Kedua dua pasukan main 7 perlawanan semasa di Afrika Selatan, tak termasuk perlawanan lain semasa round-round terdahulu. Pasukan yang dapat pergi ke Afrika Selatan pun dapat ganjaran juga.

Kalau FAM kira-kira 'bodoh' lah, Harimau Malaya boleh jadi masuk final dan 'investment' berbaloi tak?

Tarikh hari ni tak lah mengembirakan sekiranya kita ingat pada kejadian yang terjadi 41 tahun yang lalu, tetapi sekiranya kita positif, ia mengajar kita untuk berhati-hati dalam usaha kita untuk hidup dalam negara yang berbilang kaum seperti Malaysia.

Yang penting kita jadikan usaha untuk terus maju dalam setiap aspek hidup kita.

Yang menariknya lagi, semalam pasukan Piala Thomas kita berjaya melangkah ke separuh akhir kejohanan Piala Thomas 2010, dengan mengalahkan musuh tradisi, iaitu Denmark. 3 - 2. Lee Chong Wei, Koo Kien Kiat & Tan Boon Heong serta Hafis Hashim memberikan kita kemenangan. Kepada mereka dan seluruh pasukan (termasuk Wong Choong Han dan Mohd Zakri & Hoon Thien How) serta jurulatih, syabas dan tahniah.

Juga terima kasih kerana kami masih lagi boleh meyokong anda apabila bertemu China di peringkat separuh akhir nanti.

Kepada skuad Piala Uber, kita cuba lagi ... ok.

As for Uber Cup, Malaysia decided to rest their top players as they gave opportunities to the younger players for experience of the mighty Chinese, being easily thrashed 5 - 0. The ladies will meet Indonesia in the quarterfinals.

New Economic Model - NEM

Just came back from attending MPC's launching of the 2009 Productivity Report and Productivity Award, and a presentation by Dato' Dr Mahani Zainal abidin, member of NEAC and CEO of ISIS. The MITI Minister and his Deputy were there, the lunch was good, maybe because it was sponsored by MPC. Ok it taste good nonetheless.

This is my first direct exposure of the NEM, other than what I read in the papers or heard in the news. Well it is "a framework" if I understood correctly. The presentation is suppose to be on the MPC website, however yet to be able to download it.

By 2020 the target is our average income should be US15,000 - US20,000, which if calculated at just US1/RM3, it should be RM45,000 - RM60,000 per annum from presently US7,000 (RM21,000).

And that is assuming that a growth of an average 6.5% per year.

I am not going to go into it, but of all the points raised during the presentation, my focus was at the fact that 80% of our workforce have only SPM or secondary school education. Now what does that show?

What if I say, our education system had been compromised. At the whims and fancies of the politician, we change our education policy, taking just language as a point to note.

English or BM, BM or English and or .... it seems never ending.

Need to admit though, my English is not good, but its better than most people and I go to school way back in the 70's. I wonder how actually will our children cope if we allow this people (who probably send their children to private/international school, or overseas, or worst still do not even have any school going children).

As the Dr Mahani compared our skilled workforce with the other countries, especially our Asian neighbours ... seriously we should be worried.

This is the 1st phase of the NEM, now not sure when is the 2nd phase, but seriously, I do not see anything that can bring us to US15-20K within the next 10 years.

Will it persuade the rakyat within the next 1034 days ???

Well its our ladies and its Badminton, The Uber Cup 2010. Not so many sports that we can even come close, but as I've always believed, you need to excel at sports that you have the chance. However, enough of that because the Superpower of ladies Badminton actually are China, Indonesia, Denmark and England.

Anyway, others are catching up, and before you know it the other countries will be at your heels. Just look at South Korea. They are now doing so very well in Football, Hockey, Badminton, when once we were the master.

And coming to that, I also would like to say ... no politics in sports. Lets support but don't try to take advantage of sports for political gain.

Enough is enough.

Thomas & Uber Cup 2010

Our National Men Team, wins their 1st game due to a walkover, as the Nigerian Team did not show up. Well for all it is worth, a win is a win, and next is Japan.

In the Star today, National chief coach Rashid Sidek said that they chose to field their best instead of reserves because they wanted a good "warm up" for the players ahead of the tie against Japan tomorrow. "But this did not happen for us today. We will make up by having a good training session tomorrow." he said.

"Too many days without a match is no good for the players, We will keep them on their toes and be ready for the tie against Japan."

Well they better, hopefully that guy who match Lee Chong Wei during the All England Finals early this year did not get any better. We want the Cup to stay here in Malaysia, if not both, at least the Thomas Cup.

"Just 16,000 extra votes for the Tories, distributed in the 19 constituencies in which the party came closest to winning, would have spared us a weekend of negotiation and speculation," they wrote in The Sunday Times nespaper.

"The result shows that it is the Labour which continues to benefit mostly from a 'biased' electoral system, winning inner-city seats with relatively small electorates and constituencies with lower turnout," they said. - AFP

Now how interesting, sounds familiar somehow ... what do you think!

As more talks takes place, the Kingmaker seems to be Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg. He shall be the one who actually holds the trump card as who shall be the next Prime Minister of the UK. Imagine a party with only 57 seats decides the goverment. Of the 650 seats, Labour only manage to secure 258 seats as the balance goes to smaller parties.

Hari ni, tinggal 1039 hari sebelum PRU13.

Tapi, arah ke 10 Downing Street telah bermula, tolak campur adalah 24 jam lagi. Maka Gordon Brown dari Parti Buruh yang sekarang ni PM ada peluang ke nak balik sana? Nasib dia la, kalau pulang hanya untuk kemas beg aje. Agaknya kalau di UK sana, sekiranya tukar kerajaan seperti biasa berlaku ada tak kecoh-kecoh macam kat sini. Kepong sana, kepong sini, ... ceritanya kata ada dokumen hilang kena shred, kena buang/bakar.

Procedure tukar kerajaan lancar macam mana ye?? Saya teringat ada satu cerita "The West Wing", proses tukar Presiden Amerika sunggoh unik dan teratur. Tak tahu la, kot-kot hanya dari Hollywood, tapi kalau cara itu sebenarnya memang sungguh menarik. Nanti kalau ada masa, nak buat research sikit, cara-cara peralihan kuasa.

Saya rasa kita kat Malaysia ni, tak dapat membezakan yang mana satu penting, sebab tu la Blog ini mengarah kepada Cinta Alam Malaysia, negara tercinta ini kita utamakan, tak kira siapa, asal Malaysia First (http://malaysiafirst.blogspot.com). Kita boleh belajar dari sesiapa, tapi kita kena ingat inilah tanah tumpah darah kita, dan bagi yang telah mendapat kerakyatan mereka, utamakan negara ini. Bak kata perpatah lama "Dimana bumi dipijak di situ langit di junjung". Lagi satu "Hujan emas dinegeri orang, hujan batu dinegeri sendiri, lebih baik negeri sendiri".

Jadi pilihanraya itu satu proses aje, selesai proses itu, ikut amalan tertentu, kemajuan negara kita utamakan, jalankan tanggung jawab masing-masing. Tidak ada siapa sebagai individu lebih berhak dari individu yang lain, atau satu organisasi lebih berhak dari organisasi yang lain.

Kita ni ikut sistem British, ada Raja Berpelembagaan. Ada Dewan Rakyat dan ada Dewan Negara. Kalau ikutkan, sistem kita ni sedia dengan "Seperation of Power", ada pembuat dasar (legislative), ada kerajaan (Executive) dan ada Kehakiman (judiciary).

Kerajaan yang terbentuk dengan majoriti di parlimen pula disokong oleh penjawat awam. Disni saya suka menekankan mereka ini penjawat awam (civil servant/publicservice) bukannya government servant. Sorry la ... yang tak setuju tu, kita tak nak gaduh ... okay.

Saya teringat ada satu siri menarik di TV dulu, Yes Minister, ia sangat 'reflective' kepada apa yang ingin sampaikan.

Bab seterusnya, sambung lain kali la ada banyak masa, kalau tak ada 'snap election', masih lagi 1039 hari. Saya nak cadangkan satu sistem yang mana bila Parlimen dan DUN dibubarkan, kerajaan sementara yang diketuai oleh satu Suruhanjaya yang dianggotai oleh "...... siapa2 yang diterima sebagai adil oleh semua pihak".

eemmm ... Siapa dapat Jaguar PM Britain, Brown, Cameron atau Clegg? Kita tunggu ...

Bersambung dari, isu semalam saya nak cerita pasal PELAJARAN atau PENDIDIKAN. Bukan apa, nama ni jadi mainan oleh ramai sampai nama kementerian pun tukar berberapa kali, tapi isu pokoknya tak kemana juga, pi mai pi mai dok tang tu jugak.

Siapa yang boleh menafinya kepentingan pendidikan?

Dalam ertikata lain mencari Ilmu. Nabi Muhammad SAW bersabda "mencari Ilmu itu wajib bagi setiap orang Islam". Maknanya ... hanya melalui ilmu sahaja sesorang itu dapat menilai dan seterusnya dapat menjalankan tanggungjawabnya dengan berkesan. Ini diarahkan kepada perkara yang boleh membawa kepada kebaikan dan manafaat kepada diri dan keluarganya dan orang lain.

Cerita di Malaysia, 2 tahun Pra Sekolah( rasanya tak wajib, tapi kalau anak-anak tak pergi, masuk darjah satu cikgu tak peka, makin ketinggalan anak itu).

Mula 6 tahun Sekolah Rendah (SK), 5 tahun Sekolah Menengah (SMK), 2 tahun Sekolah Tinggi (Tingkatan 6) atau 1 Tahun Matrikulasi/Asasi atau 3 tahun Diploma atau 4 tahun Degree. Ada pendidikan swasta dan ada pendidikan awam. Tapi majoriti nya pendidikan awam. Yang mampu atau banyak duit dan kurang yakin dengan pendidikan di Malaysia, hantar anak-anak mereka ke Luar Negara.

Jadi kalau kita conggak sebelum se seorang itu, memasuki alam pekerjaan, dia akan melalui 18 ke 20 tahun pembelajaran di Malaysia. Sekarang ini, Pendidikan Awam dibawah dua kementerian, iaitu Kementerian Pendidikan/Pelajaran (saya dah confuse, sebab tu tulis dua dua sekali) dibawah Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin dan Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi oleh Dato Seri Khalid Nordin.

Sistem pembelajaran kita ni okay ke???

Saya rasa ok, hanya perlu kepada penambahbaikan yang berterusan.

Maksud saya bukan main tambah sana tambah sini dan tambah lagi, makin banyak yang hendak disogokkan sampaikan di SK punyalah banyak perkara saya "check" silibus anak saya nak tolong pun dah tak reti. Tapi yang "basic" atau "fundamental" tu tidak ditekankan. Dulu cerita tentang 3M - Membaca, Menulis, Mengira. Zaman dulu kita sekolah, writing dan spelling di persungguh, sekarang tulisan ... teruk la sangat.

Nanti ada lah yang kata ... mak bapak buat apa, semua nak harap kat guru aje. Kita kata asasnya pembelajaraan apa? Kita pasti ke yang sekarang ni 'foundation' pembelajaran di SK tu dah cukup untuk menyediakan anak-anak kita ke SMK. Saya berhak berkata kerana saya ada anak di SK (Darjah 1, 3 dan 5). Di SK anak saya, kami aktif dalam permuafakatan kelas dan PIBG. Dulu kita tak pergi tuition, sekarang kalau tak hantar tuition, "mungkin" tak cukup. Ramai juga yang tak hantar tuition, oleh sebab-sebab tertentu diantaranya, tempat, logistik, kos dsb.

Persoalannya, adakah pengajaran disekolah tidak mencukupi sehingga ibubapa tiada pilihan sehingga terpaksa hantar ke tuition.

Tapi ada juga ibu bapa kronik kerana hantar tuition sampai dua tiga tempat, lepas tu Kumon la dan entah apa lagi.

Seperkara lagi, selain dari akademik ialah kokorikulum. Ini termasuk yang wajib dan selainnya. Tahun depan akan dikuatkuasakan setiap murid satu sukan. Sepatutnya la, kalau tidak anak-anak kita ni boring juga asyik kena belajar aje. Kalau di sebabkan oleh program ini nanti kita boleh dapat pingat emas dalam olimpik bagus juga. Ni tak lama lagi, Piala Thomas/Pia Uber nak mula kat KL lagi, tak ada ke program ajak murid murid pergi tengok kat Bukit Jalil, nampak promosi macam tak ada langsong. Tak kira la siapa main, kalau Team Malaysia yang main kita sokong kuat, kalau team lain kita enjoy permainan yang hebat. Baru lah dapat semangat lebih. dah berapa tahun Piala Thomas tak tinggal kat Malaysia, 1992 last sekali kan. Pia Uber kita pernah menang ke?

Sukan lain, ni kita kena tengok keupayaan la, ada tu setakat seronok aje boleh la, nak maju tu banyak yang perlu dilakukan.

Balik kepada cerita pembelajaran. Saya hendakkan kerajaan yang memerintah memastikan pembelajaran di Malaysia tidak di politikkan. Kita perlu kepada Suruhajaya Kawalselia yang bebas dari politik. Maknanya mudah, setiap kumpulan berhak untuk sama-sama menjayakan masa depan anak-anak kita, generasi penerus kita. Peluang samarata yang mengalakkan "competition", kita perlukan anak-anak ini dapat pergi sejauh mungkin.

Kita tahu tak semuanya sama, tapi kita perlu sokong yang kurang berkemampuan dengan cara tersendiri, manakala yang berdaya saing disokong untuk lebih kedepan hingga keperingkat antarabangsa. Saya ingat akan Yayasan Selangor dengan program Asrama Doktor Latif (ADL) dan kemudian Asrama Tun Doktor Ismail (ATDI) dan Asrama Toh Puan Norashikin (ATPN) dan di kelang Asrama Yayasan Selangor. Oleh kerana pembangunan, ADL dah tak ada lagi. Uniknya program ini ialah, anak-anak yang keputusan penilaian darjah 5 dan sekarang UPSR pertengahan, dapat masuk sekolah terkemuka kalau KL tu dulu Victoria Institution (VI) dan St Johns Institution (SJI), yang permpuan tu ... tak pasti la saya.

Satu lagi yang saya ingat Asrama Inderapura di Kuantan, anak-anak yang dapat Gred 3, MCE masa tu diberi peluang untuk ambil balik atau duduki HSE. Sekarang dah tak da lagi, dah jadi pejabat kat kubang buaya kuantan tu.

Ramai yang berjaya dan seterusnya atas sokongan serta dedikasi pihak yang diberi amanah, mereka mendapat tempat dalam dalam masyarakat.

Kita kena terima, suka dengan tidak proses memberi ruang dan peluang ini perlu berterusan, dan ada yang dapat melangkah lebih jauh secara sendiri, motivasi diri kuat, sokongan keluarga, semangat dan kewangan ada, tetapi yang perlu bantuan tu ramai.

Suruhanjaya Kawaselia pendidikan Negara (SKPN) ini mesti telus kerana akhirnya anak Malaysia yang keluar dari sistem pendidikan negara adalah anak-anak yang berkualiti tinggi, mampu membantu diri dan keluarga, dan akhirnya tempias bagi negara untuk lebih maju dan bersaing dengan sesiapa sahaja didunia. Kalau kita kata Nobel Prize, kita ada, kalau kata Doktor Pakar kita ramai, Jurutera, dan semuanya. Kita tak nak rhetorik politik, kita nak 'substance'.

Sebenarnya ramai yang dah berjaya kalau kita tengok 50 tahun sejak Merdeka, tapi rasanya ramai lagi yang sepatutnya berjaya. Walau apa sekali pun yang penting kita tidak ada pilihan tetapi perlu kearah kejayaan yang lebih cemerlang lagi

Seterusnya ... bab pelajaran/pendidikan ni ialah, bila agaknya IPTA/IPTS setanding Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge dan banyak lagi Universiti terkemuka dunia.

Niche market kita apa?

1042 hari lagi ... Apa yang kita hendak ???

Fikir punya fikir apa yang kita hendak? Banyak ... banyak sekali.

Boleh ke dapat, kata orang kalau tak minta mana boleh dapat? Jadi saya rasa kita kena minta la, kalau dapat okay, kalau tidak tak rugi apa? Kalau orang Sibu sekarang ni senang sikit, kerana ada sebab pemintaan mereka boleh jadi kenyataan, PM pun dah ada kat sana, senang nak bantu mana yang kurang atau terlepas pandang oleh MP yang baru saja meninggal kan alam ini dan sementara menunggu MP baru dipilih. Orang Hulu Selangor kira okay la, dah selesai, dan dah balik aman tenteram dah.

Di Malaysia ada 222 kawasan Parlimen. kalau conggak mudah, sebelum 8hb Mac 2013, kena ada PRU yang ke13. Makna nya akan ada lah 222 kerja kosong untuk Parlimen. Selain dari Sarawak yang akan mengadakan Pilihanraya Negeri paling lewat tahun depan, 12 Negeri dan 1 Wilayah Persekutuan juga akan ada banyak kekosongan yang sangat ketara. Jadi selain dari ADUN dan MP, juga akan ada banyak lagi jawatan awam yang akan kosong, PM, TPM, Menteri Timbalan Menteri, MB, EXCO dan jangan lupa Speaker Dewan Rakyat dan Dewan Undangan Negeri.

Tak lama ada 1042 hari aje lagi, kita buat "COUNTDOWN" okay.

Barisan Nasional memerintah Malaysia sebagai Kerajaan Persekutuan dan 9 Negeri, manakala Pakatan Rakyat memerintah 4 Negeri. Jadi apa juga yang terjadi diantara hari ini hingga ke hari pembubaran Parlimen dan Dewan Undangan Negeri, kita kenalah bersedia, baik yang terpilih sekarang, kot kot nak dicalunkan lagi, dan kita sebagai "BOSS" mereka, barulah betulkan, kerja tak sampai 5 tahun sekali, melainkan berberapa oorang yang kena kerja dua kali dalam PRK yang dah selesai atau yang akan berlangsung di Sibu pada 16hb Mei 2010 nanti.

Di United Kingdom, Parti Buruh pimpinan Gordon Brown ikut cerita akan kalah dan kemungkinan besar tidak ada majoriti mutlak, kena kerjasama atau yang menang kena jadi kerajaan minoriti. Susah lah nak buat dasar, tapi kalau baik untuk UK, sepatutnya Ahli Parlimen kena fikirkan Negara lah dulu, sebelum fikir pasal parti. Tak ke haru kalau tak dapat sokongan, kena tinggalkan 10 Downing Street lah PM Brown. Kalau tak silap hari khamis ni, maka adalah 3 hari lagi.

Kat Perak, MB Zam beri bantuan kepada MCA (dalam Berita Harian hari ini, RM50,000 tahun ni dan RM100,000 tahun depan), kenapa kat MCA bukan kat semua ADUN ya. Di Dewan Negara 4 orang dapat jadi Senator, Palanivel yang telah berkorban untuk Samy dan Ezam yang telah kembali kepada UMNO, yang dua lagi tu tak berapa kenal. Apa kerja Senator ya???

Sekarang kita balik kepada soalan asal ... Apa yang kita hendak???

Saya nak banyak, banyak sekali, sampai tak dapat nak tulis lagi...

Tapi ... secara keseluruhannya saya nak satu negara yang aman damai dengan keadilan yang saksama dimana setiap rakyat mempunyai peluang untuk berjaya dan dibantu apabila perlu. Kalau Perlembagaan yang sedia ada ni dapat menjamin kesejahteraan kita, ia perlu dipertahankan sepenuhnya, kalau ada perkara atau fasal yang boleh diperbaiki, kita usahakan. Dari situ pembuat dasar yang kita pilih nanti kena fahamlah tanggung jawab mereka masa kat Parlimen atau Dewan Undangan Negeri. tapi semua dah baca dan tahu ke pasal Perlembagaan Malaysia. Kalau belum baik baca, nanti tanyalah mereka yang nak jadi wakil tu, mereka dah baca dan faham ke belum.

Kepada pimpinan BN dan PR, saya nak rancangan yang kuat, orang yang berkaliber, tak payah lah 'politik' dan 'rhetorik', buat yang baik untuk kami rakyat, yang lain tu secara otomatik akan jatuh pada tempatnya, termasuk lah pangkah tu nanti. Biar lah orang tu "BERSIH", muda ke tua tak pe, cina ke india ke melayu ke, orang asal ke, janji mereka tu ... "BERSIH". Kalau polisi baik, orang "BERSIH" maka yang lain tu mudah.

Dah baik, "BERSIH", ada pula sistem "ENFORCEMENT" yang telus dan tak pilih bulu. Yang betul dibetulkan yang salah disalahkan. Lepas tu kira okay la.

Ini kira secara keseluruhan la, nanti saya nak sentuh pasal "PELAJARAN".

Hari ni, 30hb April 2010.

Dah jalankan tanggung jawab ke? Saya baru jumpa EA Form, so ada lah 12 jam lagi, kalau guna e-filing. Kalau hantarv manual, paling lewat jam 6 petang, maknanya adalah 8 jam lagi.

Kita ni, (tu saya lah), yang lain mesti dah selesai kot, memang 'expert' pasal buat kerja 'last minute', pasal gerenti siap punye, dah terpaksa. Kalau ada masa tu, buat rileks aje, ialah ada masa lagi. Kunun nya ...

Apa pun, saja mengingatkan, ikut hati leceh lah perkara ni, tapi kan ke tanggungjawab kita semua. Pada yang berwajib (Kerajaan dan pegawai pegawai yang diberi amanah), belanja baik-baik tau, kalau tak silap haribulan ada yang dapat kerja lain, nanti salah kan orang pula.

Duit dari cukai ni, kita kongsi tau, bukan hak yang boleh buat suka-suka, kalau zakat tu hukum, nanti Allah SWT tuntut, lebih-lebih lagi itulah yang tinggal di akhirat kelak. Walaupun kita bayar tak banyak, tapi kalau kami tak bayar, gerenti kena kompaun.

Kalau tak da duit, nanti semua projek tergantung, siapa susah???

Ok ... masa untuk e-filing .... kalau ikut tahun lepas tak sampai 10 minit.

Kepada mereka yang perasan 'BURUH", selamat menyambut "Hari Buruh", yang tak buruh tu dapat cuti, tapi sabtu ... memang ramai yang cuti pun. Tapi ada syarikat kalau cuti umum jatuh pada hari cuti, dapat ganti ... seronok nya.

Sebagai muqaddimah, kalau lupa. 4 Hari lagi (update 28 April 2010)

Lamanya dah tak dengar tentang "Wawasan 2020" atau Vision 2020. Baru baru ini Tun Dr Mahathir (TDM) ada sebut, dari pandangan beliau, berkemungkinan besar, ini tidak akan tercapai kalau sekira perkembangan ekonomi tidak lancar seperti yang dirancangkan.

Mungkin juga disebabkan oleh perkara perkara lain, atau pun sejak bertukarnya pimpinan dari TDM ke Tun Abdulah (Pak Lah) yang mencanangkan Islam Hadhari, dan seterusnya kepada Dato' Seri Najib dengan 1 Malaysia.

PRK Hulu Selangor baru saja berakhir dan sementara menunggu PRK Sibu, mungkin Kerajaan Persekutuan yang merintah, serta Kerajaan Negeri (BN dan PR) serta semua rakyat Malaysia perluberhenti dan berfikir sejenak. Apakah kita benar benar berada dilandasan yang betul dan kemajuan akan dapat kita kecapi apabila 2020 menjelang, kurang dari 10 tahun lagi.

Bagi saya, suka atau tidak proses putaran bumi mengelilingi matahari akan terus berlaku sehingga mana atas kuasa yang maha esa, telah sampai masa untuk is berhenti (bagi yang menerima hakikat ini). Sehingga masa itu, kita masih boleh mencorak serta merencana. Kalau kita ikut Hollywood, semuanya boleh hancur, tapi yang best tu, masih ada aje "harapan". Yang mana tengok cereka hollywood seperti 2012 dsb, akan faham maksud ini.

Saya sentiasa berpendapat, ada baik dalam semua niat serta matlamat, tetapi atas sebab-sebab yang hanya ingin difahami oleh setiap individu atau golongan, hak bagi dia memilih masih hak dia, dan sehingga dia dapat menerima pandangan yang berbeza, kita perlu memahaminya dengan harapan dia juga perlu memahami kita.

Kalau kita cerita Politik, ada yang sokong BN atau PR, jangan ceritalah yang sokong C, D atau Z, yang sokong BEBAS pun ok juga. Saya sokong "Good Governance."

Kalau sokong bolasepak, sikit masa lagi FIFA World Cup, dah mula sibuk nak ke South Africa atau siap beli TV besar atau TV baru di rumah, atau bersedia menjadi penunggu setia di big-big screen di kedai mamak atau restoran. Yang mana lebih fanatik tu, cerita kelab yang disokong tak lekang dibibir, cerita EPL (MU ke Chelsea ... juara), La Liga (Barcalona ke Real Madrid ... juara, Serie A (Inter ke AC Milan ... juara), dan Bundesliga....

Oh ya ... juga jangan lupa Liga Super Malaysia. Selangor masih pendahulu liga walau pun tak berjaya mempertahankan Piala FA, tahun ni Negeri Sembilan yang dapat.

Masa depan kita terletak kepada generasi masa depan, tetapi perancangan yang betul perlu dicorak oleh kita masa kini, kerana apa yang kita ada atau kecapi sekarang adalah secara langsung atau tidak langsung apa yang terjadi atau di rancang 5, 10 atau 20 tahun terdahulu. Masa depan anak anak kita tergantung kepada apa yang kita corak sekarang.

Pelajaran yang baik memerlukan kos yang tinggi, antara guna duit sendiri atau pinjaman atau dapat biasiswa. Pinjaman semestinya kena bayar, biasiswa datang dari dana pemberi biasiswa, tetapi ia tetap dari DANA AWAM. Biasiswa swasta dari dana perlepasan tertentu yang tidak tercukai, manakala Biasiswa Awam dari cukai yang dikumpul.

Dan dalam proses itu, teringat satu perkara penting yang perlu kita ingat, dah submit borang Income Tax ke, sekarang ni guna online senang tau, bayar tax tu tak lah gemar, gaji pun tak besar, tapi kena ke tak kena, submit tetap wajib. Nanti kena penalti, marah lagi...

Last day kalau tak ada perubahan ialah jumaat, 30hb April 2010. 5 HARI lagi.

Ok la, nak gi cari EA Form dengan semua resit, yang mana dapat pelepasan tu, kena ada bukti.

Today its "EARTH DAY".

Funny isn't it, if we take in a year there are 365 days except when its the leap year where it shall be counted as 366 days, and we only dedicate 1 (ONE) day as "EARTH DAY". Its just like any so called special day, "mother's day", "father's day" and "teacher's day" and so on ...

Recently there was "EARTH HOUR"

Actually we human takes a lot or so much and yet gives back a little, if possible not at all.

So, if we looked back at things that are happening, we wonder why? And we continue to wonder, as if we were never part of it.

Now lets take the Tiger as an example. Here we shall be very specific about our very own "Pak Belang" or "HARIMAU MALAYA/MALAYAN TIGER better known by its scientific name PANTHERA TIGRIS MALAYENSIS. In the wild, it is said to number less than 500. (Actually, I always wonder how they ever get the numbers, counting each and single one or there are a special radar or something ...). Although there are quite a few more in the zoos and or privately cared ... however the condition are questionable.

What can be done to protect this "National Icon" ? Its on the "Emblem of Malaysia"

How much actually can we do?

Since last monday, the 19th April, until today 20th April 2010(to be exact 1pm), I went through personally sponsored Tiger Marathon In Cyberspace (TMIC) as I visited all blog that participated in the Tiger Blogfest 2010 (an intiative of the Monyet King). Eventhough some may have overlook their initial intention to participate, most or nearly all 115 Blogs contributed.

My personal experience are numb fingers, tired eyes and painful back. However, I learn a lot about Tigers in general, effort taken, concern and cares. There are true stories, poem (got to know that April is Poetry month), and most of all, I believed friends with the same focus. If previous post, been to Europe, well now cross over to North America (Toronto, Canada). I studied there about 30 years ago, and that person is about my elder daughters age.

All in all it was great, and we should look at other avenue to make this work. Since Malaysia is one of the 13 countries, what if we have a conference or convention about our "Pak Belang". Why wait for Vladivostok, Russia?

Let us do more, its for the future. To borrow a Malay Proverb : Harimau mati meninggalkan belang, manusia mati meninggalkan nama. (A tiger leave its stripes, while human leaves his/her name).

As a saying goes,

"We did not inherit this earth, we borrowed it from our children".

TIGER MARATHON IN CYBERSPACE ...

Tiger fest journal, thought that all will be in BM, but I know then for the benefit of our International participants.

Since yesterday, due to the Tiger Blogfest 2010, I've been visiting Blogs that participated. As of 5.15pm just now, managed to visit about 48 Blogs. Out of those 48, some had more than 1 posting while quite a few yet to do.

There quite a number of nice photo, write up and interesting cartoons. Most of all, what I once knew about our Pak Belang can be considered miniscule, compared to some of the other participants. Well ... that what this affair should be isn't it, what we know we tell, what we don't we learn from others.

Now our own Monyet King's posting about getting PM Najib to go to Vladivostok, Russia for the Tiger Conference is something. Will he go and be ... Raja Harimau ?

Back to my Marathon, I crossed the South China Sea, to Sabah and Sarawak, and all the way to Europe (i.e Belgrade, Serbia) before onward to Mexico. Although I do not understand what was written, the photo makes my day. However, our friend from Belgrade are willing to translate.

Not sure what I will see, read or learn but just can't wait to continue this journey.

Bila buat search dengan nama Harimau Malaya, ada 237,000 results.

Tapi yang menghairankan ialah, banyak juga yang dikaitkan dengan Bolasepak Malaysia. Kalau kita ikut status Bolasepak Malaysia, nampak gayanya "HARIMAU BELANG" atau PANTHERA TIGRIS MALAYENSIS" ini dalam kategori yang sememangnya membimbangkan. Apakan tidak kalau kita tidak berhati hati dan mengambil iktibar, zaman dahulu bolasepak kita digeruni sekurang kurangnya di rantau sebelah sini. Korea Selatan, Jepun sama 'standard' lah kiranya, tapi sekarang mereka dah merasa "FIFA WORLD CUP", kita terhegeh-hegeh lah nak menang SEA GAMES (tahniah menang Gold Medal baru2 ini).

OK, bukan nak cerita tentang Bolasepak, tapi nak kaitkan sikit aje. Mengikut kajian, ada atau masih ada lebih kurang 500 ekor lagi, dalam hutan (tak kira sendiri ... seram, nak dekat). Yang selalu tengok dalam gambar, TV dsb. Oh ya adalah tenggok kat berberapa Zoo, tapi tak berani nak dekat sangat, takut kena ngap. Lagi pun kalau dekat-dekat baunya aduhai lah hancingnya.

Tapi, yang utama ialah kenapa kita harus mengambil "SERIOUS" tentang Pak Belang kita ni. Sebab utamanya ialah, ia adalah "IKON NEGARA". Kalau kita tak ambil peduli, nanti satu hari kita tengok gambar aje atau kat tv, pasal semuanya dah pupus. Kalau ikutkan, Maybank, PROTON dah lekatkan sebagai LOGO KORPORAT, tapi Pak Belang sebenarnya yang kita ank cerita. Dah ada pun cadangan nak tukar dari HARIMAU ke Katak la, Ayam la, Lembu, tikus la atau Beruk, tak ke haru kita!!!

Oleh yang demikian, kita kena mulakan dari sekarang. Dr Bala dah mulakan, dan ada 108 BLOG yang turut serta. Ada cerita, ada gambar dan banyak lagi.

Hari sabtu lepas (17hb April 2010) semasa sukan tahunan SK Bandar Anggerik, Shah Alam, salah satu rumah sukan(rumah kuning) telah mengambil Harimau Malaya sebagai Maskot mereka, dan diatas sifat kreatif mereka, mereka telah dipilih sebagai pasukan perbarisan paling kreatif. AAUUUMMM.

Berberapa organisasi telah memulakan langkah tertentu, diantaranya ialah MYCAT, WWF selain dari PERHILITAN. Kita perlu mengorak langkah bagi memastikan "PAK BELANG" kita sentiasa mengAAUUUMMM.

Mari kita selamatkan "PAK BELANG" ... AAUUUMMM

As usual, the first impression will be US should stand for The U.S of A. Isn't it ???

No, it is us ... MALAYSIAN. You, me and all those who are proud of this country. Well we have its shortcoming, and unless we decide to give up our citizenship, we should take pride and contribute to its well being. By the way the "Tax Man (LHDN)" are ready to accept your tax return do not forget to do your duty, if not the onus is on you.

For a small country with a small population, actually its quite difficult to compete with the giants, be it the US, Russia, China, India or the EU countries. However, there are a few, maybe more than just a few whose economy and success are much much better tthan us. Why ???

Once we are world's largest producer of tin, rubber and palm oil, are we still???

Even in manufacturing, if am not mistaken National now Panasonic (Matshushita Air Condition Group) was no 2 going to be no 1. Now they moved some of their production to China as they close some of their factory here.

Like it or not, Petronas Twin Tower was the tallest in the world until taken over by Taipei 101 or is it Taiwan 101. BUT ... probably is still the tallest TWIN tower.

So what will make US great?

Think of Malaysia what actually comes to mind???

Tiger Blogfest 2010 - 1st Announcement : Call for Participation (updated)

Dear blogging friends,

Since 1896, our nation had adopted the tiger in its emblems, crests and coat-of-arms. The king of our jungle. The symbol of courage, strength, bravery, agility and beauty. So majestic that they grace the crests of the government, universities, and private corporations. The national animal without a doubt. OUR HERITAGE.

But what have we done with our national icon. We have already killed more than 80% of them. By clearing forests without proper planning, we have deprived them of their homes. Hunting has decimated many (please watch this video of how cruel hunters are). Now there are less than 500 tigers left in the wild. And if the current rate of habitat destruction and poaching continue, these remaining tigers will be wiped out rather soon (perhaps by year 2020 when we all can be proud and call ourselves a developed nation).

We will look silly having the tiger gracing our coat-of-arms without any of them being alive. A nation that destroys its own chosen symbol surely cannot be called developed, can it ?. We owe it to our children and their children to protect our tigers in the wild. Much needs to be learnt and much more needs to be done to protect them. The current apathy cannot continue.

There are many organizations and dedicated individuals who are working very hard to raise awareness about the tiger, protect their habitats and to reduce poaching. But it is not enough. We need to reach out to more Malaysians.

The Tiger Blogfest 2010 [19 – 23 April 2010] is an avenue for the blogging community to contribute towards protecting our national heritage. All that is asked of you is to do what you are already doing so well… blog, blog and blog. Tell a story, write a poem, post a technical paper, draw cartoons, compose a song, relate your personal experience – anything as long as it convey the message of the need to protect our tigers. [preliminary details given below]

I know you will all rise to the occasion. At the same, efforts are being made with the media and NGOs to give this event publicity and the conservation community to leverage on the heightened awareness.

What to do

Post at least one piece in your blog about the need to protect the tiger. You can plan and prepare ahead of time. Your first posting must be made on 19^th April, preferably before 9.00 a.m.

You are encouraged to post additional articles during that week. But you can just stick to one post if you cannot spare the time. It would however be nice if everyone can post two pieces, one on the 19^th April and the other towards end of that week.

What to write

Post anything that you are comfortable with as long as it carries a message about the need to protect our tigers. You can choose to write a story about the tiger, post a technical paper, compose a song or a poem, draw cartoons, etc. etc. Preferably in English or Bahasa Malaysia.

Comradeship

All participating blogs should carry (1) the Tiger Blogfest 2010 logo; and (2) a common message about protecting the tiger. Both these items will be provided to all participating bloggers.

Finally Lee Chong Wei made it. Congratulation to our Malaysian hero including the Coach Misbun Sidek. As for Misbun, this is his second charge after coaching Hafis Hashim who won the title in 2003. He himself was once a runner in this competion way back in the eighties.

Well it was a worthwhile wait, considering the Rubber game during the mixed doubles (China bt Indonesia) and ladies singles (Denmark bt China). As for the ladies doubles it was a Chinese affair, while the men's doubles was a Danish one. The latest News.

It was a good competition that most player will not one to miss, but like it or not the next question is are we ready for the Thomas Cup comes this May in Kuala lumpur.

Setelah ramai yang mewakili Malaysia kecundang semas pusingan pertama dalam usaha membawa balik Kejuaraan All England setelah tidak berjaya di German Open. Lee Chong Wei yang tidak ke German, maju setapak lagi mengalahkan seterunya Sony Dwi Kuncoro untuk berjaya ke suku akhir.

Harapan kita, Chong Wei dan beregu (bekas pelatih beregu kebangsaan) Gan Teik Chai & Tan Bin Shen akan berjaya melepasi peringkat separuh akhir.

Reader's Digest in their latest issue (March 2010), had a special report, and as they reveal the exclusive results of the first ever Asian Trust Poll, we wonder ???

The question they asked people to rate were of professions and local personalities on a scale of ten("Trust completely") to one ("Not trusted at all")

Of the most trusted professions, fire fighters, doctors and teachers. In the Philippines, farmers were rated highly, while the medical profession were rated highly in Hong Kong. Real estate agents, fortune-tellers and politicians rated poorly. Thailand rated taxi driver poorly while those in the finance industry are rated poorly in Singapore.

I am quite happy of the Top 5 in Malaysia, however, the list of 50 chosen in the Malaysian group are actually "Safe List", and when compared to the other countries in the study Malaysian in Politics or the Civil Service (Judges, Police Officers etc..) are not included. Even Corporate players are left out.

To be fair when making comparison, it would be better that same group and category are acorded to every country (eg. 5 or 10 for each group, common or professional)

Still so much has happen ... and whether which ever political divide you support, I still believe that any sane individual would love to live in a country where they are confident that they and their family are in a 'safe' & 'just' environment.

Now ... again what I say and what you think is of no relevance, we shall always learn to accept the fact that one need to 'AGREE' to 'DISAGREE'.

Not a time to lose March 8 spirit

There was a lot of optimism right after March 8, 2008. There was a sense that things would get better. But has there been much change two years since that day?

Instead of seeing multi-racialism being freely accepted and manifested in government policies, we find ourselves becoming more divided along racial lines. Right after March 8, Umno embarked on its campaign to warn the Malays that they were under threat and to rise up against this.

The government has assumed a schizophrenic personality – the prime minister talks about 1Malaysia while his deputy says things that are completely contradictory. The PM talks about multi-racial unity while his own party campaigns for Malay unity.

Many of us had hoped that, after the elections, both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat would set aside their political differences and get down to the business of working for the national interest, of saving this country.
Instead, they have been doing their darnedest to do the dirty on each other. BN is coming out tops in that effort because it has the media under its control. Both seem to be doing their worst to win the next general election.

We hoped for leaders who would be honest, clean and respectful of us the people, who would not think we were stupid or immature. Quite soon after Najib Abdul Razak took over as prime minister, he told a gathering of senior mainstream media editors: “I have no baggage.”

The editors nearly fell off their chairs. If the No. 1 leader of this country can say something like that, what can we expect of the rest?

No wonder then Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar could say that Sin Chew Daily journalist Tan Hoon Cheng had been detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) “for her own protection”. And current Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein (right) could come out to defend the cow-head protestors and actually say “they felt victimised”.

But the ‘best’ comment on that incident came from Dr Mohd Khir Toyo: “There was no religious significance in bringing the head. The cow is a stupid creature and (the protestors) wanted to point out that the (Selangor) state government was being stupid.”

How did such a person become menteri besar of Selangor?

Instead of being a formidable force providing a strong opposition in Parliament, Pakatan is now fighting to salvage its image. The number of elected representatives who have quit PKR is distressing, and Pakatan can’t blame the mainstream media for this. Neither can Pakatan blame anyone for its ability to produce ‘frogs’.

Anwar Ibrahim promised us defections from BN to Pakatan on Sept 16, 2008, but it never happened. Now it’s happening – but the defectors are from Pakatan. In any case, Anwar’s attempt to take over the federal government on Sept 16 was misguided and merely exposed his true ambition – to be prime minister, above all else.

We now see infighting among Pakatan’s elected representatives. We hear allegations of corruption in their ranks. We realise that many of them are in public service not to serve the public but to serve their own interests. All these negative developments threaten to erode our faith in Pakatan. Can they put their act together? Can they form a viable government?

After March 8, we hoped the government would undo the damage that had been inflicted on our country by the man who screwed up our institutions, created a culture of fear, fostered the negotiated contract, invested our money in white elephants – and still doesn’t know when to shut up. The Americans could only make ‘Avatar’; he managed to lead a country to the dogs. And yet the government has not dismantled the culture he created in order to restore our faith in the country’s institutions.

On the issue of race, Najib’s 1Malaysia project is mere window-dressing. It’s old wine in a new bottle. And I’m not apologising for the non-halal reference. I leave that sort of apologising to Star.
What 1Malaysia is there when Najib says one thing and his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, says the direct opposite? The very day Najib publicly unveiled the 1Malaysia logo, Muhyiddin said Umno would fight to the last drop of blood to protect Malay rights. He has also said the BTN courses are uniting Malaysians in line with the 1Malaysia concept. How? Pray tell.

What 1Malaysia is there when Najib says one thing and his aide Nasir Safar says the Indians came to this country as beggars and the Chinese as prostitutes? And that “We can anytime revoke the citizenship of the Indians in Malaysia”?

Media failures

More insidious is the rise of the right-wing movement that the government has done nothing to discourage. Only last week, the Home Ministry granted its most prominent group, Perkasa, a permit to publish a fortnightly newspaper. Meanwhile, Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian continue to pour poison into the ears of the Malays by spinning that they are losing their land and privileges.

Surely, Najib could put a stop to such spin since the newspapers are owned by Umno? Why doesn’t he? Is it because he encourages media freedom? If so, why do we still have the Printing Presses and Publications Act, which requires media organisations to renew their licences every year at the pleasure of the home minister? Why is it still there to turn media owners and editors into eunuchs?

Star recently published an article which critiqued the caning of the three Muslim women for illicit sex, and public caning in general. When a few Muslim NGOs complained, the Home Ministry promptly issued the newspaper a show-cause letter. The ministry also insisted on an apology. So the paper dutifully apologised. No doubt all this is meant to intimidate Star so it won’t dare to run such articles again.

Should it be frightened? How do we push the parameters if we continue to be frightened? How do we encourage healthy public debate? I personally doubt the ministry would close down Star. The public repercussions would be negative for the government. More importantly, BN would cease to have an important organ for the dissemination of its propaganda. Star reaches out to a wide non-Malay, mainly middle-class readership. BN can’t afford not to reach out to these people.

Even after March 8, the mainstream media is failing us. Remember how relatively balanced they were in the months after March 8? Their owners realised that for the sake of public acceptance, they had to temper their pro-government bias and so they opened the window of objectivity by a few degrees. Besides, they had to hedge their bets in case Anwar did manage to take over the government.

But then when Sept 16 didn’t happen, there was no need to consider that any more. So the mainstream media stopped being balanced. Months later, Najib took over as PM. He tightened the screws. Thereafter, the mainstream media went back to bashing Pakatan.

Selective change

To be fair to Najib, he has shown that he’s serious about economic reform and he’s trying to make Malaysia more competitive and to lure foreign investors. He has also come up with the Government’s Transformation Programme that identifies six key areas in which the government intends to improve its service to the public.

The effects of all these, however, are not conspicuous yet. He did try to table three laws in Parliament to settle the touchy issue of religious conversion but this was forestalled at the last minute by the Conference of Rulers. But meanwhile, where are the institutional reforms?

When he became PM, he released numerous ISA detainees, among them the Hindraf leaders. But wasn’t that done with the next general election in mind – to win back the Indians? What about the more important issue – the ISA itself? What is being done about that? And what about the Universities and University Colleges Act, which denies student participation in not just political activities but also social activities that are not approved by the vice-chancellor?

Recently, the Universiti Malaya Speaker’s Corner was reactivated and a deputy minister who was somehow present at the event called it a clear example of the government’s open approach. Someone should test what can’t be said at that Speaker’s Corner.

What about the law enforcement institutions? We have yet to see the setting-up of the IPCMC which could help reduce crime and police corruption, and promote better observance of human rights by the police.
The ACA was reformed to become the MACC to battle corruption more effectively. Look at what it’s doing these days – mostly picking on opposition politicians to bring them to shame. Almost every opposition leader worth his salt is being investigated by the MACC. If you are not being investigated, you haven’t arrived.

We could also go into the attorney-general’s office and ask what has happened to the Lingam case, the PKFZ case, the RMAF case, the Hasbie Safar case, and whether the people who placed wild-boar’s heads in the two mosques have been arrested. What do you think we might discover?

Shaking off fear

So, what good has March 8 brought us after all?

Fundamentally, I think Malaysians are becoming more courageous. More and more are speaking up. Fewer and fewer are kowtowing to the people in high places. We are struggling to shake off the culture of fear – and I think we are succeeding. Look at the turnout at candlelight vigils and protest marches.

At the protests against the ISA detention of Tan Hoon Cheng, Raja Petra Kamarudin and Teresa Kok, people whom you’d never expected to see at such gatherings actually showed up. Three years ago, such people would not have dared come near such activities.

There is a new spirit of defiance now, and we have models of defiance to show us the way – among them Anwar Ibrahim since the reformasi days, Raja Petra, P Uthayakumar, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin and his Perak band, and Malaysiakini. Instead of giving in to authoritative pressure, they stood tall. And that’s how it should be.

Malaysians are no longer so afraid of another May 13. Sure, there is always the possibility of racial riots flaring up but people are generally more sensible now. Besides, no responsible government would want racial riots to erupt and frighten away investors. The recent ‘Allah’ issue reinforces that. Despite the puny efforts of a few to create an incident by fire-bombing churches, attacking a surau and depositing wild-boar heads in mosques, the opportunity for riots fizzled out.

The political battlefields of Malaysia are no longer so clear-cut and marked by Malays versus non-Malays. From the time of reformasi in the late 1990s, the split within the Malay community has been evident.
In the 1999 general election (GE), it was the non-Malay voters who saved BN from possibly losing its two-thirds majority. Compared to the 1995 GE, Umno’s votes in 1999 dropped by 8 percent. Najib nearly got voted out of the Pekan constituency. He scraped through with a majority of only 241 votes.

In fact, as long ago as the mid-70s, it had already been predicted that a time would come when the major political strife would be between the Malays. The failure of the NEP to evenly redistribute wealth among the Malays has accelerated this. A class fight is settling in between the Malays who have not and the Malays who have a lot.

The real issue now is corruption. Many Malays have come to realise that the people who join Umno these days are largely doing so not because they believe in helping their own community but because they want to get rich.

Umno still tries to sell the idea of ketuanan Melayu but to the Malay have-nots, what is the meaning of that ketuanan? Even so, when push comes to shove, anything can happen. Much will depend on how effectively Umno plays the racial game. While it is unwise to look at the Malays as a monolith, it is equally unwise to ignore the tribal instincts of a community. Especially when it’s constantly being told that it’s under siege.

Looking forward on a more optimistic note, however, we have to acknowledge that March 8 has given us something precious for the next GE, and hopefully for longer into the future – choice. Now we have two coalitions to offer us their idea of a better deal. If we want to retain this duopoly that should work to our benefit, we have to nurture it. It sure beats having a monopoly.

The next GE will be crucial. It will determine whether we’ll get more of the same old, same old or whether we will get real change. Whether we will continue to be a nation divided along racial lines or be hopeful of being a truly Malaysian nation. If we are to keep the March 8 spirit alive and make irreversible the trend to take Malaysia out of the dark ages, we have to do our part. Those who have not yet registered as voters should do so as soon as possible.

It’s going to be a tough GE. Najib will want to prove himself worthy of being PM by winning it. He hasn’t won one yet. He’s PM now by default. He’s PM because of 2,600 Umno delegates. That’s the number that actually decided who would become prime minister. Only 2,600. We have seen in his handling of Perak how ruthless he can be when it comes to such things. So we need to be vigilant.

One of the tactics BN will resort to is gerrymandering. This might explain the recent PKR defections. BN will need a two-thirds majority to push through a Bill in Parliament calling for a redelineation of parliamentary constituencies. If it succeeds, redelineation will be really bad news for Pakatan. The opposition will have to strive even harder to win constituencies re-drawn to favour BN.

As it stands, Sabah and Sarawak seem secure for BN. To ensure that, Najib has been pumping more and more money into those states. In the peninsula, 70 percent of the current parliamentary seats are Malay-majority seats. That’s where PAS and PKR have to work really hard to deliver the votes. If they lose the battle for the Malay votes and Sabah and Sarawak remain loyal to BN, not only will Pakatan not make it to Putrajaya; BN might get back its two-thirds majority.

Whatever it is, when the next general election comes around, it might be appropriate to recall the words of Franklin Roosevelt: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Choice is what we have now. That has been the gift of March 8. We should exercise that choice – for the betterment of our country. And exercise it without fear.

Yes ... CHOICE is what we have now, and for all its worth, as we strive for the best, we hope those who are making the offer shall respect our decision.

Two months has passed, so whats up Malaysia???

PM says the economy is better or is it getting better? Well lets hope for the best. However with the new ruling by LKIM (Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia), with regards to the boxes for the fish, we might be in trouble with higher cost of fish. This way relayed to me yesterday by my fish monger at the Klang Market. FOMCA says lets boikot from buying fish if the price goes way up.

Other than fish, did anyone realised that prices of drinks had gone up. Two insident that occured to me personally, a 'Teh Tarik' that usually cost RM1.50 is supposed to have gone up to RM1.70 at a Mamak Restauran in Shah Alam t while a 'Teh Ais Limau' is supposed to be RM1.20 up from RM1.00 at the stall in Klang Market. After complaining, they let me pay the old price for that order, not sure if it stays up or unlucky to unsuspecting customers.

Now ... with sugar up 20 sen per kg, an increase of that amount per RM is equivalent to 20% increase. If that is the quantum, I'll start to not drink outside and bring refreshment from home. If all Malaysian does the same, its good for the health anyway, and you save money anyway.

What will it do to the economy ... the multiplier effect could be devastating. Than again what is 20 sen isn't it???

It is set for March 2-7, at Mulheim Germany.

Malaysia shall be represented in the singles by Hafis Hashim, Wong Choong Han, Tan Chun Seang and Kuan Beng Hong. However, most of the world's top 10 players, including Lee Chong Wei have skipped this meet to focus on the All England.

Considering the oppotunity (without the Top 10) the Malaysian should strive to win this German Open as it will be good exposure for them as well as creating better hope for them to be chosen for the Thomas Cup Finals which will be held at Putra Satdiums in Bukit Jalil from May 9-16, 2010.

Diantara banyak sukan antarabangsa, kira sukan inilah yang membuatkan Malaysia paling terkenal sejak sekian lama. Lebih lebih lagi, buat masa ini, Lee Chong Wei (Datuk) adalah pemain Nombor Satu (1) dunia. Tak Berapa lama lagi akan ada All England, kemudian Piala Thomas, serta berberapa acara antarabangsa lain.

Dua tahun dari sekarang(2012), Olimpik akan menjelma. Kalau tak silap ada 5 emas yang akan dipertandingkan. Kalau Malaysia nak tengok kilauan Emas, rasanya tak ada lain cara melainkan sukan Badminton.

Jadi yang sibuk-sibuk dan kecoh kecoh sekarang ni kenapa ya???

SPEED and SPEED TRAP

Akhir tahun 2009 ni saya nak cerita tentang SPEED TRAP/PERANGKAP LAJU di jalan raya dan lebuhraya. Sebelum, boleh ada PERANGKAP LAJU mesti ada HAD LAJU.

HAD LAJU berbeza ikut tempat dan jenis jalan. Paling rendah yang saya perasaan dalam kawasan perumahan dan dekat sekolah ialah 30KMJ dan diketahui umum HAD LAJU maxima yang dibenarkan di Lebuhraya untuk kereta persendirian adalah 110KMJ. Bagi kenderaan berat dan komersil rasanya maxima 80-90KMJ yang ditampal dengan 'sticker' dibelakang kenderaan tersebut.

Persoalan nya ialah :-

1. Berapa ramai yang mengikut HAD LAJU tersebut?

2. Had tertentu tu logik atau 'practical' ke?

3. Apa sebenarnya 'objective' HAD LAJU?

4. Penguatkuasaan masa kini dengan "PERANGKAP" ni realistik ke?

Ada masanya di berberapa Lebuhraya ada AMARAN PERANGKAP LAJU siap dengan gambar kamera lagi. Jadi selalunya pemandu tekan brek sekejab, lepas tu bawa laju balik.

Kerana masa tertentu bukan rasa sangat, tiba tiba dah lebih HAD LAJU, kena pula kereta yang canggih canggih, 170-180KMJ tak rasa apa pun. baru sekejap tadi saya perasan ada 'SPEED TRAP' dekat denga PUSAT SAINS NEGARA, kawasan tu HAD LAJU hanya 80KMJ, memang kena punya, pengalaman sendiri bawa kereta cabuk pun tak perasan dah lebih 90KMJ dapat saman RM300.00 lepas diskaun terbang RM200.00. Lebihnya 10KMJ tapi laju tetap laju, kalau tahu baik bawa 200KMJ, baru berbaloi bayar. Itu pasal yang punya kereta canggih tu dia buka peduli pun, tekan habis habisan, kalau kena saman sama juga maxima RM300.00, nasib baik dapat diskaun 50%.

Katalah saya nampak ada pihak traffik PDRM sedang buat "SPEED TRAP", saya beri info pada pemandu lain (nak tolong mereka), adakah itu satu kesalahan? Niat saya nak tolong mereka supaya bawa pelahan dan kedua selamat lah duit dari kena saman.

Kalau tak melanggar undang2, saya ada berberapa idea yang hendak diketenggah kan, boleh jadi 'business' kot? Ini kerana, PDRM hanya dapat mereka yang bawa laju semasa operasi sahaja, masa tak ada operasi bawa laju macam mana pun, jadi samseng jalan macam mana pun, bawa Bas Express gila gila pun "NO PROBLEM".

Bukan lah saya minat sangat ada Pegawai PDRM Trafik setiap masa, tapi ada masanya, nasib tak baik baru laju sikit, bukan perkara biasa pun, disebabkan masa tu ada "SPEED TRAP" kena. Ini yang dikatakan TIDAK ADIL. Masa kita tengok ada keperluannya tak nampak pula batang hidung.

Kita perlu memikirkan cara lain, alternatif terbaik bagi menghadapi masaalah sebegini bagi memastikan setiap penguna tahu tanggung jawab mereka dan yang paling penting selamat.

Tapi apa juga kita tidak boleh lupa tentang QADA dan QADAR, kita ikut semua peraturan, dik sebab kesilapan atau ketidaksengajaan orang lain kita mungkin jadi mangsa.

US here does not means United States, though we can learn quite a lot from them, the good I mean. My topic originally was suppose to be Please FOCUS Malaysia, but I thought this is quite catchy. Anyway us means us as an individual, organization and yes Malaysia as a country. And in the end people will compare us with others.

As much as we like, we want to be the one on top, top 5 or top 10, top 100 etc. We would like to be acknowledge to be in Times Magazine, Forbes 500 Nobel Prize Winner and so on and so on. If we cannot get into any of the list sometime we go to the extend of creating one for us.

SAMSENG JALANAN

Bayangkan sekumpulan penunggang motosikal membawa motosikal mereka dengan laju tanpa memperdulikan penguna lain. Ini selalunya berlaku pada waktu siang, tetapi apabila mereka berlumpa dengan aksi mereka yang merbahaya pada waktu malam sehingga 3-5 pagi, mereka telah mengganggu orang yang hendak tidur juga.

Situasi ini telah berterusan kerana "samseng-samseng" ini yang juga terkenal dengan "mat rempit", itu pun ada yang satu ketika beri idea nak tukar nama ke 'mat cemerlang' konon, ada juga yang dapat 'chance' kalau tak silap pergi 'terjun khutub utara.

"Serious" mana kita nak benteras masaalah ini. Ini memerlukan banyak pihak terlibat, tak boleh lepas pada Polis sahaja, tapi kalau dengan Polis pun diorang ni tak takut, atau main-mainkan, kita orang biasa ni lagi di buat tak kesah, silap haribulan, kereta kita kena pecah, rumah kita kena baling, keluarga kita kena kacau. Ini yang ramai buat tak kesah walaupun kena marah.

Tapi, kita tidak ada pilihan kerana kita kena mula. Pertama, ialah kita perlukan undang undang yang ketat. Olih itu, pembuat dasar (MP kita kat Parlimen) kena luluskan satu rang undang undang yang antara lain membuatkan setiap yang terbabit berfikir bukan sekali atau dua, tetapi 100 kali.

Contoh contoh apabila terbukti merempit mereka kena ...

1. Hukuman Penjara 5 tahun atau lebih (kalau ada orang mati 10 tahun atau lebih).
2. Ibu bapa kena 1 bulan.
3. Motosikal dirampas dan lesen dibatalkan serta merta.

ada lagi ke ???

Jadi sekarang, bagaimana nak arahkan tenaga yang tengah hot nak tunjuk "terror" ni, kita kena ada alternatif yang menarik, jangan sibuk nak "motivasi" aje.

Dia orang ni nak orang tenggok, jadi kita kena beri peluang juga tapi undang undang kena cepat. Menteri Dalam Negeri, jangan lama lama sangat NKRA ke KPI ke, jadikan ini tanggung jawab nasional, tentu semua MP kat Parlimen tu sokong, (yang tak sokong tu mungkin ada kaitan dengan "samseng Jalanan/Mat Rempit" kot).

Rasanya kalau ada 222 ahli Parlimen, dan semua hadir sidang Parlimen, jadi sejarah semua sokong 100% tak ada yang menentang.

Sehingga semalam 17hb Disember 2009, Malaysia telah meraih sebanyak 139 pingat, iaitu 40 emas, 40 perak dan 59 gangsa. Diantara 40 pingat emas yang diraih, 1 sangat digembar gemburkan, iaitu dari bolasepak. ini adalah kerana, kali terakhir Malaysia berjaya mendapat pingat emas adalah 20 tahun yang lampau.

Kalau difikirkan, apalah sangat, yang 39 lagi tak dapat pun siaran langsung, ini separuh akhir pun siaran langsung (Malaysia 3 - 1 Laos). Tetapi memandangkan yang sukan Bolasepak adalah sukan yang telah berjaya mempeharuhi ramai peminat, buruk baiknya sentiasa mendapat tempat dalam media dan akan sentiasa menjadi topik perbualan.

Punyalah semangat, sampaikan anak saya (Adam) sempat tukar jersy pasukan Malaysia masa tengok perlawanan tersebut.

Sememangnya sukan adalah salah satu acara yang dapat menyatupadukan rakyat, lebih lebih lagi bila menang. Adalah diharapkan, agar kita dapat memilih dan terus mengembangkan sukan sukan tertentu yang kita mempunyai daya saing untuk terus berjaya ditahap yang lebih tinggi di persada antarabangsa seperti Sukan Asia, Sukan Komanwel, Sukan Olimpik dan mana tahu bolasepak berjaya ke Piala Dunia.

Bila agaknya emas di Olimpik dan Berjaya menjadi salahsatu wakil Asia di Piala Dunia bolasepak FIFA ya???

Malaysian Made and Made in Malaysia

Sometime time people in general are not aware, but most of the time they are confused, however there are those who just doesn't seem to bother.

What is the different between Malaysian Made and Made in Malaysia. I am not sure whether there are specific percentage (%) or standard for such classification. Anyway in logical terms we can agree that Malaysian Made refers to anything MALAYSIAN and produced by Malaysian or Malaysian Expertise. A clear example can be BATIK, although sometimes we wonder if the fabric used are also Malaysian produced. There could be other examples, even food base like kerepek, keropok lekor.

As for Made in Malaysia, the above rule still applies, however we might have foreign investor producing their products for local consumption or export purposes and yet uses foreign labour and expertise.

In the end, what matter most should be QUALITY. Way back during the earlier years, people will always say anything continental (American/European) are always better then Japanese. Although some of those kind of statement is true, things had change, the so call good products are Made in Malaysia or other countries.

This does not necessarily applies to just products manufactured, now it could be services and its people. QUALITY in general has no boundries.

Yesterday I was at EON Glenmarie Service Centre to do the 5000KM service for our PERSONA. However it seems this promotion was not at all publicize and that seems funny., more awkward. Probably since EON is not the main player anymore, they seems not be bothered.

Anyway for all its worth, all "players" concern with regards should really buck up if they ever wants to compete with the bigger player starting with continuous quality products and services.

Kalashnikov designer is now Russia's hero

Created in 1947, the Kalashnikov, also known as the AK-47, is known for its reliability and simple design. It is officially in service in 55 countries and adorns several national emblems.

Millions of counterfeit versions are thought to exist and the rifle is so widespread that it is often said to have killed more people than any other weapon.

Now isn't that nice, being recognised as a hero. His invention being use for the wrong and right reason. Here in Malaysia and just about any country in the world, somehow politicians seems to be making the news, and most of all sometimes for the wrong reasons.

I read this from the late Capt Yusof Ahmad aka The Ancient Mariner, way back (wed, Feb 25th, 2009) and felt it appropriate to add on to this issue, a story related by his friend ...

My old friend Capt. Gian Singh Sehmi sent me this old joke which I think is still relevant and funny:

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, "I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week." The florist was pleased and left the shop.

Malaysia - Tanah air ku

Hari ini (sejak sekian lamanya) kita memasuki era yang sunggoh mencabar. Setelah kita MERDEKA dari British, 31 OGOS 1957, kita masih bercerita tentang perpaduan. Baru-baru ini, PM mengumumkan 16hb September tahun depan kita cuti lagi, kerana pada tarikh itu Malaysia terbentuk (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, Singapura, Sabah dan Serawak). Lepas tu PM pertama Tunku Abdul Rahman MENYINGKIRKAN singapura.

Suka atau tidak (kalau tak suka...pergilah cari negara lain)inilah negara kita. Kita berhak mencoraknya, walau tak semudah yang kita harapkan. Sistem yang ada hari ini agak baik, tetapi sentiasa ada ruang untuk diperbaiki.

Kita tidak perlu setuju dengan pemerintah, tetapi kita perlu terima hakikat bahawa pada ketika ini, mereka dipertanggung jawabkan oleh kita secara sistem "DEMOKRASI BEPARLIMEN, RAJA BERPELEMBAGAAN".

Marilah kita cari cara memperkukuhkan negara ini, saya pinjam kata-kata hikmah ini, kita tidak mewarisi alam ini, kita meminjamnya dari anak-anak kita.

Setiap dari kita ada peranan tersendiri, fikir fikirkan lah.

Towards Higher Income ? 1Malaysia Together We Prosper?

Here is an obvious contradiction : whenever the Government gets more income it almost always comes at the taxpayers expense. This is Rule No 1. So lets bear this in mind.

In this Budget, the Government has decided against selling cheap APs. Why? I thought the idea is to move Malaysians towards higher income? Together we prosper and all that? The Government will now impose RM10,000 for each AP to Open AP holders. This will definitely be passed on the public in terms of higher prices.

Why not just remove the APs – abolish saja.

So Rule No 1 again – when the Government makes more money, the public gets poorer.

Then the Budget says income tax will be reduced from 27% down to 26% for those earning RM100,000 pa. Firstly just how many people are involved here? Just how many million Malaysians are in this RM100,000 tax bracket? Ini nak tolong orang kaya saja kut?

Here I see only the “CCC Class” benefiting. The CCC Class are those who can at least buy the Mercedes Benz C Class. They include the Chinese business class, the Corporate class (better spelt ‘korporat’) and the Crony class. Put together they become the “CCC Class”.

Other than this the ordinary Chinese working class, the ordinary Indian and Malay need not worry too much about calling their tax accountants just yet. They can go back to watching Awani, Thangathirai or Wah Lah Toi.

And yes I too would like to know the justification for the 15% tax for all income earned in Iskandar. What is so special about Iskandar? I have got nothing to do with Iskandar. The same goes for about 27 million other Malaysians.

The fact is Kuala Lumpur, the Klang Valley, Penang and other places generate huge chunks of our GDP. Why not give some real tax breaks to us hardworking folks? My wife and I work seven days a week. And why 15%? Who and how did they come up with this magic number? Why not 25% or 20% or 18% or 16.555%? Ada logic ke?

And this also creates huge amounts of room for cheating. You can open a “name plate” office in Iskandar – just an office, a table and chair with a fax and phone. Then do all your business in KL but issue all your invoices, receipts, cheques addressed from Iskandar. Close your accounts in Iskandar. Then you pay only 15% income tax. In fact I think many of the businesses in KL are considering this already. Tak terpikir ke?

And the only bumiputera who may benefit from this is the multi billionaire Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Bukhari who has extensive business operations in the area.

Just like the Labuan Offshore Financial Centre or LOFC. For the past 20 years the Labuan OFC has actually been operating from the UBN Tower in KL beside the Shangrila Hotel. Because that’s where many of Japanese offshore banks operate from. They maintain a simple office, fax machine and telephone in Labuan just for appearances but most of the business is done from KL. Big deal.

And those who will benefit most from this 15% tax in Iskandar will also be those who pay taxes - again mostly the CCC Class only. What about the ordinary Malay, Indian and Chinese? 1Malaysia Together we prosper – remember ?

The majority of Civil Servants are Malays. So are wage earners. So how will they benefit much from this 15% tax rate? This Budget can kick up greater economic divisions among the people.

The idea to impose a RM50 fee on Credit Cards is also quite mind boggling. Who is the genius who thought up this little nugget? Firstly the Banks can easily award bonus points, give fee waivers etc that can overcome this extra RM50 fee. But again Rule No 1 applies here. This RM50 tax per credit card makes us poorer . Only the Government moves to a higher income bracket.

First of all lets state clearly what is the desired outcome? What does the Government want to achieve? If the idea is to reduce the abuse of credit cards and prevent people (especially the middle and low income) from incurring unnecessary credit card debt, here is a suggestion, a simpler method : Just tell the Banks ‘No Cash Withdrawals Using Credit Cards for Malaysian Citizens inside Malaysia’ (or something like that).

Malaysians on genuine travel overseas can still withdraw money using Credit Cards and foreign tourists and travellers inside Malaysia can also withdraw money using Credit Cards. But the 25 year old Malaysian who has got five credit cards will be prevented from withdrawing RM2000 cash from each and every one of his five credit cards and then default on his payments in two months.

I think there are other ways too, to skin this cat instead of walloping everyone with a blanket RM50 per credit card to enrich the Government. And it may still not work. Its just Rule No 1 again. It certainly does not move us to higher income. Only the Government gets richer. Lip service saja bang.

Tax relief of RM500 for broadband subscription. Firstly this only applies to those who pay taxes. The CCC Class will again benefit most from this. But how many Malays pay taxes in the first place (to benefit from this)? If they don’t they will not benefit from this. And how many Malays or Indians or Chinese have broadband connections ? We need statistics. So to me these are just Christmas tree decorations to decorate the Budget. They don’t really move many people towards “higher income.” What we need most is better broadband connection.

First Class Honors Grads will get their loans converted to scholarships. Again can we have some numbers? How many grads get 1^st class Honours in the first place? 100? 1000? 10,000? Can we see some numbers? I can say straight off that over 99% will be non Malays. Which is fine. I hope more Malays will also work hard and get 1^st Class Honours too.

But how does this move the rest of us 28.0 million Malaysians (especially the Malays and Indians) towards higher income? How does this have an effect on the economy as a whole?

I feel this idea about the 1st Class Honours grads should have just been announced by the Minister of Higher Education or the Government without having to include it as part of the Budget.

I have this feeling the Goverment ran out of ideas for the Budget and is just throwing in more Christmas tree decorations to make the Budget sound good. I remember when I was a student, we used to add extra pages on our answer papers in our written examinations to “bagi berat” ie make our answers look longer. We could not fool the teachers though. That was in the 1970s.

The same can be said about adding eight new EMU coaches by Keretapi Tanah Melayu and building covered walkways linking LRT stations to activity centres. I find it strange that little things like this were also included as part of the Annual Budget. These are operating items which can be announced by General Manager of KTM or the LRT folks.

I certainly hope the covered walkways do not become mega projects (like the RM110 million now being spent to build a flyover and road works in Jalan Travers).

The same goes for the 30 top students getting scholarships. This is a very, very good thing but does it have to be part of the Budget? 30 students will have a chance at a better life but how does that move the rest of us 28 million not so clever ones to a higher income?

The RM2.3 Billion infrastructure spending in Sabah and Sarawak is good. It is long overdue. Build big and build fast. But don’t waste money to only benefit the “cahaya mata” cronies. Thats an entire "C" class by itself. Spread it out to others too.

The RM6.0 Billion allocated under Agriculture can be a huge sinkhole. We must get maximum bang for each Ringgit spent. Lets face it : Agriculture spending is just handing out subsidies and dole to the farm folks.

But there is a new player now : agricultural corporations linked to GLCs. They are goofing up big time. (Like spending RM200.0 million on losing prawn farms). I hope we dont lose too much money there. GLC = Government Losing Concern?

But what is the big deal about the 20% stamp duty exemption on Islamic Financing instruments? Why discriminate based on religion? Money is still money. And there is really no such thing as Islamic Banking or Islamic Financing in the first place.

The point I am trying to make? The point I am trying to make is we are dealing with the real world here. We are dealing with 28.0 million Malaysians and we need to move the real economy of the whole country – and not just the Islamic Financing part of it (which is imaginary anyway because there is no such thing as Islamic financing).

If you want to give a 20% tax break on financing instruments then do it across the board – and not just on Islamic Financing.

This will really move us all together towards a higher income. Since the Government has taken away the exemption from RPGT (Real Property Gains Tax) then at least ease up a little lah on the stamp duties. Kasi kat semua orang la. Ini nak kasi Islamic Financing saja not fair lah. How does this fit the 1Malaysia Concept ?

I do hope the Government will review the Moneylaundering and Anti Terrorism Financing Act. At the same time please also put a stop on a lot of the hot money that is flowing into the country, especially from the Middle East. The Government may want to pay more attention to where much of the Arab money originates from. Some of it usually comes from very “sheikhy” hands. Lets not make our country a haven for “hot money” under the camouflage of Islamic networking, Islamic financing, Islamic Bank licenses etc.

There is already talk that with Pakistan breaking up, Pakistani generals, warlords, politicians etc will be moving out their money to other countries. They too may soon be looking for “Islamic brotherhood”. Jangan kita jadi kaldai.

The tax exemptions for the Green Building Index may also be minimal in its effect. It is a good thing – no doubt about it and I don’t disagree with Green Buildings. But it is like giving a tax break for Outer Space Exploration to Malaysians. Just how many Malaysians will benefit?

First of all Green Buildings are expensive. Green actually adds cost, it does not save cost. So it does not move anyone towards higher income.

My son just finished his Diploma in Architecture and is now working for an Architect where they are into Green Buildings. To go Green, you need new materials, new designs etc all of which cost more.

But here is something else : according to The Star’s front page, the construction sector only makes up about 1.6% of the economy.

In contrast The Star also quotes from the Economic Report 2009/10 which says that the size of the Malaysian Economy will be RM1.026 TRILLION in 2010. Syabas and Alhamdulillah. This is a tremendous achievement.

Out of this RM1.026 Trillion, 40.2% (RM412 Billion) is the Import Sector and 45.4% (RM465 Billion) is the Export Sector. This is where our economy really thrives : imports and exports.

So where are the Budget Incentives to help these very important sectors of our economy? Faster Customs clearance for Importers, less red tape, duty exemption, tax incentives for more export etc? Green Buildings will only benefit 1.6% of our economy.

So again – how many people will benefit from going Green? And how many Malays are in this sector? (I am not being prejudiced or racist folks but we really have to do things to move as many people forward together and not just some people . And the Malays make up the largest number of folks who need to be moved forward in a hurry). To me this thing about Green are just more Christmas tree decorations on the Budget.

And why remove the RPGT exemption? Its just Rule No 1 again : it only enriches the Government but makes the citizens poorer. The RPGT exemption was just helping the property and construction sector turn around. Now with the RPGT reimposed, it will certainly dampen some activity in this area. The Government gets richer but the public gets poorer. How to move to higher income? Apa sudah jadi "1Malaysia together we prosper"?

The financial and non financial rewards for headmasters is unclear. What exactly are they? RM10 for every ‘A’ scored by students in PMR and SPM?

The Deputy PM Ustaz Muhyuddin Yassin says it is a new ‘bai’ah’ or New Deal which the Government will introduce for principals and head teachers. Brader, pasai apa cakap Arab ? Apa itu bai’ah? Kalau “New Deal” maksudnya ‘Perjanjian Baru’ pun boleh. But Perjanjian Baru is also the name for the New Testament !

How are the Guru Besar going to get the teachers (who may not get the bonus) to work harder so that the Guru Besar can collect his bonus? Even if the teachers dont work harder, they still get paid. The KPI does not potong gaji for non performance. There is no such thing. And teachers salaries are according to Government salary scales. This bonus for the Guru Besar scheme may promote more budaya hasad dengki in school.

I feel it is better to cut down on guru ponteng sekolah. By this I mean the number of days teachers are NOT IN CLASS because they are away on kursus, away on leave, away on naik haji, umrah, more kursus, away attending meetings etc. If teachers spend more time teaching in class, our students may make better grades.

The biggest problem I see in this Budget is the plan to remove fuel subsidies but give it to “needy” target groups. Some crazy scheme about using MyKad etc, starting sometime later. I assume those in the target group will get a special classification that will be tagged inside their MyKads. Then when they buy gas, they may have to swipe their MyKads at the gas station to get the subsidised price.

We have forgotten a fuel subsidy fiasco that is still going on in Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah, Terengganu and other places. The Government decided to let inshore fishermen buy diesel subsidised at RM1.00 per litre (I dont know what is the price now but it is still subsidised).

This has created a new class of instant “oilmen” among our fishermen. They fill their tanks (including plastic containers etc) with subsidised diesel and then sell it to Chinese offshore men (or behind the lorong in the fishing villages), Thai trawlers etc on the high seas. And they have also stopped fishing. Why fish when you can sell subsidised diesel and make more money?

And the Customs Department has had to spend hundreds of Millions of Ringgit buying new speed boats to chase down this new ‘oilmen’ on the high seas. What a dumb idea that was. And it is still going on.

So this is now going to happen throughout the country. I can imagine the Mat Rempit boys standing just outside the petrol stations ready to ‘rent out’ their MyKads for a fee. Pay them some Ringgits, they ‘pinjam’ their MyKad to you, you go to the station and swipe it and get cheaper petrol.

Or the Mat Rempits may buy cheaper subsidised petrol, put it in tanks and go around the housing estates selling cheap petrol. ‘Minyak Murah, Minyak Murah’. Its bound to happen.

Then to curb the abuse the Police or Domestic Trade boys will be asked to increase their ‘enforcement’, buy new equipment, new procedures etc. More time and energy wasted.

Here are some ideas : impose a standard 20% Corporate and Personal Income Tax rate. Then waive the Personal Income Tax rate just for this year, since the economy is bad.

Remove the RPGT.

Reduce Stamp Duty for land transactions to a standard RM100 for all land title transactions below RM5.0 million. (Ok can tweak the figure lah).

Give real money incentives to industry and businesses for employment creation for Malaysian citizens (not Bangla factory workers or Indon contstruction workers).

Give more tax breaks to parents for paying college and university fees.

I am not so sure, but I THINK, the main reason for No.1, are because they felt their present country is not worth it, and the country of their choice will be better for them and their family. There are possibility that they had no choice ... and so could be other reason as well.

As for No. 2, it could be due to requirement, or the first step to getting citizenship. Now, to me as long as someone feels that a/any country could fullfill his needs, he should make a choice that will be good to him/her and their family.

Suddenly, our Envoy to the US wants to offer those people who gave up their CITIZENSHIP, even if he feels that they NO LONGER WANT TO BE ...

Is PRIDE to CHEAP ????????

Envoy : Give PR status to former M'sian citizens

ROMPIN : The government should consider offering permanent resident (PR) to more than 200,000 former Malaysian nationals who are now US citizens to create a strong economic network between both countries, said Malaysian ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis.

He said this was because most of the former Malaysians worked in various professional fields and held important posts in multi-national companies, which could benefit Malaysia. "Although they are no longer Malaysian citizens and no longer want to be, their heart still lies in Malaysia"

Jamaluddin told reporters yesterday the presence of former Malaysians in the country would also inject foreign currency into the economy each year. He said if one of them spend as much as US$10,000, (RM38,000) in the country, US$2 billion (RM7.6 billion) would be channeled into Malaysia annually.

Jamaluddin said the suggestion to offer PR status would be brought up to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak who is schedule to have a meeting with US President Barrack Obama by year end. - Bernama

When someone wants something, let them ask nicely, if it is worth it, and benefit Malaysian why not, but PLEASE Mr Envoy don't make us look so desperate, we deserve better.

Rakyat Malaysia dianggarkan seramai 27 JUTA orang. Katakanlah tolak 10% dari keseluruhan rakyat di negara ini bertaraf jutawan atau lebih, maka bakinya seramai 24.3 juta bukan dalam kategori yang eksklusif itu.

Bayangkan KERAJAAN yang memerintah bersetuju mengagihkan setiap orang dari 24.3 juta itu 1 JUTA/MILLION ringgit. Maka secara "automatic" setiap rakyat malaysia menjadi jutawan. Maka dengan sendirinya, tanpa berfikir lebih jauh, setiap mereka yang bergelar warganegara akan merasakan bahawa mereka dihargai.

Jualan kereta Proton di United Kingdom sudah berjaya melepasi sasaran yang ditetapkan untuk tempoh setahun di sebalik berlakunya penurunan permintaan di negara itu. Jumlah jualan itu kini 10 peratus lebih tinggi berbanding sasaran sebanyak 1,000 buah. Pengarah Urusan Proton Cars (UK) Ltd., Brian Collier berkata, peningkatan jualan itu disumbangkan oleh minat penduduk untuk menggunakan kenderaan yang dijana oleh gas petroleum cecair (LPG) kerana bahan apinya lebih murah sebanyak 50 peratus berbanding petrol.

''Proton merupakan satu-satunya syarikat di negara ini yang memasang tangki LPG pada kenderaan secara terus di kilang dan kemudian menjualnya pada harga sama dengan model yang menggunakan petrol. ''Sehingga kini, Proton telah menjual 600 kenderaan menggunakan LPG termasuk jualan pada tahun ini sebanyak 200 buah yang kebanyakan pembeli terdiri daripada kalangan syarikat kecil, pengusaha teksi dan polis," katanya kepada wartawan Malaysia di sini semalam.

Beliau berkata, pengguna tidak menghadapi masalah untuk mendapatkan bekalan LPG kerana setiap satu daripada empat stesen minyak di UK menyediakan bahan api itu. Kini terdapat kira-kira 6,000 stesen minyak di negara itu. Kata beliau, faktor lain yang menyebabkan peningkatan jualan adalah kesetiaan pelanggan yang memilih kenderaan keluaran Proton apabila menukar kereta baru.

''Proton kini mempunyai 80 pengedar di UK dan setiap enam orang daripada 10 pelanggan yang telah membeli kenderaan daripada pengedar terbabit akan kembali memilih jenama berkenaan," ujarnya. Sementara itu, kata beliau, sejak tahun 1989, Proton telah menjual 150,000 buah kenderaan di UK dan model terkini yang ditawarkan ialah GEN.2, Persona, GEN.2 Ecologic (bagi versi LPG), Satria Neo and Savvy.

''Model paling laris ialah Savvy yang merupakan 40 peratus daripada keseluruhan jualan. Pada tahun ini sahaja kita menjangkakan akan menjual 400 buah model ini sahaja," katanya. Sementara itu, kata beliau, jumlah keseluruhan jualan kenderaan melibatkan semua syarikat di UK pada tahun 2007 adalah sebanyak 2.4 juta buah tetapi bilangan itu dijangka menurun kepada hanya 1.7 juta pada tahun ini.

''Penurunan ini disebabkan oleh pengguna mahu mengurangkan kos berikutan kegawatan ekonomi dan cadangan kerajaan untuk meningkatkan kadar cukai jalan kenderaan sebanyak sekali ganda pada tahun 2010," katanya.
Mengenai sasaran jualan Proton di UK pada tahun 2010, Collier berkata, perkara itu masih belum dimuktamadkan lagi, tetapi beliau berpendapat sasaran 1,000 unit adalah munasabah.

And today is already the11th day of Syawal, just how time flies. week after next, our Hindu friends shall be celebrating Deepavali, and then the Christians shall be celebrating Christmas, as New Year 2010 approaches. Before long the Chinese New Year.

My daughter asked me today, what party do I support?

I told her that I support GOOD GOVERNANCE, which means the government of the day must undertake to govern, manage and administrate for the best benefit of all of us the rakyat. In a democracy we have in Malaysia, which very much parallel the British system, where the party with the Majority in Parliament or the State legislature, forms the government of the day.

Therefore, in Malaysia, the Federal Government is Barisan Nasional, together with Perlis, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak for the state legislature. Since the 12th general election however, except for Kelantan, Kedah, Penang and Selangor are now govern by Pakatan Rakyat (a loose grouping by PKR, PAS & DAP). In fact Perak was actually Pakatan lead, until three (3) of the "ADUN", decided to be independant, and openly support BN. Until or unless there are any changes by Appeal to the Federal Court, or a fresh election, the government of the day shall be BN lead.

So as easy as ABC, each government of the day shall perform to the best of their ability, and their performance shall be judged by the Rakyat, who shall only have an outright say with their vote comes the 13th General Election, except for the recent by election and the coming Sarawak State Election.

Any right loving MALAYSIAN, will defend this beloved country, and all we want is PEACE to do our things as long as it is within the confine of the Constitution.

The recent happening in Indonesia, does not make us Malaysian proud, when one of the person identified or blamed is our citizen (is he still) although from another angle, the happening gave dieheart Manchester United fan, a chance to watch them play in Malaysia again.

Its been awhile since I've written in cyberspace, and all the happening home in Malysia as well as overseas. The best of, the good and the ugly. Any how, looking for the "BEST OF MALAYSIA" shall always be what this SPACE will provide.

The intention shall be clear, if its good for MALAYSIA than it will be good for all of us, no matter where we come from, what race or religion. what is the tone of the skin colour. Respect and freedom as provided by the Federal Constitution.

ON POLITICS :

Perak is still very much ???. The Penanti, Penang by election has just ended, and it is status quo. Next, it shall be Manik Urai, Kelantan. It will be best if BN allow this to pass as well, lots of money can be saved. All elected goverment should continue to focus on the economy. With that it will be also status quo.

ON SPORTS :

Other than Nicole David in Squash, Some good news in Badminton, a pinch of good news for Hockey during the recently concluded Asia Cup, there are nothing much to talk about. Oh not to forget some great news from cycling. Hopefully, the new Sport Minister can come out with new ideas and strategy. Politics in MOM ... will there be a new President ??? Olympics London 2012 ... will there be the gliter og GOLD ???

ON EDUCATION :

Hopefully the new Education Minister who is also the DPM will settle the PPSMI (Teaching Science and Mathematics in English) will be settle, and let it stay in English. The decision on 10 maximum subject is just what it should be all along. Opportunity to study is the key, that means all should be given a chance, next those given a chance should be help according to certain criteria, because not all start exactly the same. Some need more help that others due to numerous reason, be it social, culturat and or financial.

ON SMOKING :

Yesterday 31st May 2009, was STOP SMOKING day, it will be great if everyday is NO SMOKING DAY. Sorry smokers ... it is for your own good, not that you all really care, and this goes to all involved in the industry, go find other business, you are involved in MASS MURDER ...knowingly.

Conference on future of Malaysia

The Centre for Media and Information Warfare Studies (CMIWS) is inviting scholars and thinkers for a Round table Conference on the Future of Malaysia. CMIWS Director, Prof Rajib Abdul Ghani said despite celebrating 51 years of independence, things which have been holding Malaysia together as a democratic united nation-state are perceived to be falling apart.

"Some say that the centre is cracking and giving way and Malaysia cannot afford, under any circumstances, to disappoint the founders' democratic idealism espoused in the Declaration of Malayan Independence," said Rajib.

"Malaysians of today have to reaffirm their faith in the constitution and tenets of rule of law. Democracy in a state begins to lose its vitality when men and women of wisdom and in position shirk their responsibility in being vigilant. Growth of a nation-state is absolutely dependent on the inflow of new thoughts and philosophies," he added.

The one day round table conference is aimed at finding ways and means to build a more democratic, just, equitable and united nation-state of Malaysia. The CMIWS is inviting 40 leading thinkers and scholars to participate in the conference.

Participants are expected to send in their thoughts on the existing political, socio-economic vulnerablities and the approaches that ought to be taken to strengthen democratic values and institutions in Malaysia. CMIWS hopes to use the Malaysian constitution and persepts of rule of law as the basis for the conference's deliberations and findings.

The conference, to be held in Concorde Hotel in Shah Alam on Nov 10, will feature several topics such as "Are the basic structural features of democratic Malaysia weakening?", and several discussions to strengthen democracy in Malaysia. The length of the article from each participant shall be about 2,000 words although lengthier ones are more than welcome.

All entries should be in by Oct 15. The CMIWS will pack the entries into a booklet for distribution to the participants by Oct 22. For details, call 03-55255325 or 03-55225568.

Malaysia New Festival

Yes a new festival with the Malaysian flair. It is the Bazar Ramadhan. Although it is never meant to be as such, the effect of the bazar is now attraction most malaysian look forward to. It is so true that for one to not believe it will be a sin. It is the time of year where people of all races will come together to savour all type of food possible. You name it you shall have it.

As much food and clothing to look for, new business opportunity for all who wants to make some extra money for the coming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, only a month away. There shall be 'Kueh Raya' in all colour and taste, 'ketupat,lemang & rendang' and many more. If want are so busy, when the actual festival come 'Kueh Tunjuk - Home made cookies (other people kitchen)' you shall have the varities to present to your visitors.

Say what you may, it is something that other countries do not have and shall be unique to Malaysia, and Malaysian loves this and so does our foreign visitors. This is uniquely Malaysian, enjoy the food but always remember to be within limit.

Ramadhan has a special reason for muslim and they should understand this seriously, and other malaysian has learn to respect this affair, for some even take the trouble to eat away from their fasting friends or even more to try the fasting themselves.

Now that is what malaysian has achieve all the way since our independence 51 year ago. A character that made us different from others, a culture others enjoy to be part of, and it makes all of us very happy.

51 years ago, the British offered us our independence, after colonizing us.

We were free before that and so we it seems all wrong should we feel anything about it. this is our country and therefore it is ours to begin with. Anyway, when they were here, did they come by themselves or were they invited.

However, after all we are master of ourself and we should set the course of where we want to go. Tun Dr Mahathir has nicely presented the Wawasan 2020, and it is only strong will of the leaders of the day and hard work of the citizen will get us through.

Malaysia as a nation are blessed with so much that is only the envy of many, the question is how do we make sure that we maximise what we have in order to go forward.

The 51st anniversary ofl our independence is just around the corner. Watching the Jalur Gemilang flutter in the breeze in our garden elicits a sense of elation. Since our residents' committee was set up two years ago, we had embarked on a community programmed to instill a sense of belonging and ownership among the residents through various activities that promote good neighbourliness and good will among the various races, by focussing on common issues of concern like crime prevention and other issues that effect the residents' everyday life. And the local police are regular invited guest at various functions and festivities.

Our flag flying campaign for Merdeka is in its third year. The target is one house, one flag, and though falling short of 100%, the response of more than 90% of the residents is a morale booster. The few who are reluctant to fly have the usual grudges and complaints on the government's less than just implementation of certain policies.

While we admit that this disgruntlement does have legitimate grounds,we should also be rational enough to distinguish between support for the government of the day and loyalty to our country of birth. if the government of the day is seen to be inefficient, unjust or corrupt, it can be changed or removed through the ballot box. But our position as legitimate citizens of Malaysia, as enshrined in the Constitution, remains unchanged and that is where our loyalty lies.

Of course, not flying the flag for independence day does not necessarily mean one is unpatriotic. By the same token, flying the flag does not necessarily mean we endorse a government to expectation. But, first as a citizen and than as a patriot, our allegiance must be to Malaysia an it is incumbent upon us to keep a watchful eye on those who are given the mandate to manage this country to ensure that they do not abuse their positions to the detriment of the nation.

Back to our taman, the flapping of the flags in the steady breeze is a pretty sights to behold.

The Star - Monday 18th August 2008

Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei striking a pensive mood with the silver medal around his neck after the men's single badminton final against Lin Dan of China. Chong Wei lost 12-21, 8-21 and Malaysia's hopes of a first-ever gold medal in the Olympics were dashed. Still, it was a gallant effort by Chong Wei who becomes the first singles player to have won an Olympic silver medal.

On another note, just what Badminton did to the nation on that day ...

All over the nation, hundreds and thousand of people went to mamak shops and restaurants which had big screens set up for the live telecast. Most however stayed in the comfort of their home, glued to their TV for the hope of the gliter of GOLD. They cheered and clapped each time Chong Wei scored points. During this period, none would have thought of anything except for the success of Chong Wei ... and therefore the success of the nation.

Even politics took a back seat when the finals was in action. Anwar of PKR watch from a stall, while Arif of BN was at a nasi kandar restaurant.

However, yet ... he was not good enough that day (what do you aspect as you not only were up to the world No 1, but more from the whole of China). Most said CONGRATULATION to Chong Wei, for the Silver and to all the OLYMPIAN you can only be better when you work harder. Some will have the oppotunity 4 years from now as we look ahead to LONDON 2012.

I was not able to watch the match due to a more urgent appointment, however was alerted by my daughter through SMS of the unfortunate outcome. When I came home, they were actually more upset with the RTM's commentator Hasbullah Awang, who were totally negative all throughout the finals, even counting points to the end of the game. Well maybe its time that RTM look for a better person that could comment better and more positively. As usual, to talk is easy, to sweat all the way is totally a different story.

Malaysia First GOLD ...

The Olympic 2008 kicks of 080808. Well plan, and for ever remembered in the history of the sporting events. It seems to be the most expansive as well.

Well Malaysia is represented in a number of events, not expecting much from those OLYMPIAN, we are proud of them nonetheless. By the time of this writing, some probably will have to leave provided that they are lucky to allowed to be spectators. Of all the events, Badminton still is our best bet. Lee Chong Wei, Wong Choong Han, Wong Mei Chew are still there fighting, as well as the doubles who have yet to take to the courts. Good luck, for Malaysia are counting on all of you.

One thing for sure, from now onward, we should seriously look at those sports that we can be excell in the Olympics, and not so much that we can't go far. Swimming looks promising, The Japanese, Koreans and Chinese got their gold, and for their size we should not be far. If only SQUASH is in there, maybe Nicole could be the first Gold Medalist. Maybe 2012, 2016, 2020. Then it might be to late as she might be out of steam.

Sports get us united, isn't it, we spoke less about race or religion, although so much still of the politiking. Lets be fair to ourselves, for the love of the country, let Malaysia be Great again, and Always

It is a sad scenario that befalls our beloved country. We are blessed with so much, and yet the human character are not doing justice to what Allah had given us. Foreigners legal and illegal make a point to come here because of what we have, beautiful beaches, cool hilltops, fantastic fauna and flora, multi cultural and multi religious environment, lots of sunshines and rains as well. You name it we have it, except for man made snow instead of the real one.

What about food? In all of my travelling which anyway is not that much, you can find all sorts ... probably not that exotic one (life monkey brain ... kinda thing). It is a food heaven.

Talk about opportunity, if you see so many foreigner serving you, be it at the petrol station, airport, hotel, picking garbage, cutting grass, clearing drains ... you know there are working opportunity, not to mentioned food stalls and 'pasar malam'. Oh yes the wet market, you see them every where.

So back to the political scenario, now we are world famous for somebody being blown up with C4 and after 10 years another "s____y" case. How I wish, this kind of news never ever destroy the essence of Malaysia. Please people ... think MALAYSIA FIRST, if a leader who leads get a country with such bad reputation how can you be proud. The recent election prove that people are not happy, and this type of situation only will make it worst.

Remember ... the saying, we do not inherit this country, we borrowed it from our children.

Not many Malaysian know their Country

Yesterday we( my wife and I) met Angie (a school teacher) who greeted me as I was coming out for a walk from the hotel lobby of Selesa Resort. She asked whether we are residence there, but I said no, we are just there for a short working retreat.

After awhile of sharing views, we got to know that Angie actually teachers in Gombak, Selangor but commuted to her school everyday. When I mentioned that its gonna cost her more with the new petrol price hike, she seems not to be bothered. It took her only 20-30mins to reach destination everyday so its not really a problem. She was born and raised in KL, but chose to stay at the Resort because she likes the area and surrounding plus she got a very good deal (in her own word damn cheap) for the apartment. Thats why she said : Not many Malaysian know their country.

Out of the half an hour conversation, we found out that Angie is one of many Malaysians who enjoyed the beauty of the country and what they have decided for themselves, and not the critical group who only find faults all the time. She said when she greeted me, she saw the smile on my face and therefore wants to strike a conversation. Its sure is nice that smiling doesn't cost us anything but gets us new friends.

As long as we learn to appreciate one another and our country always there are always fun in our daily life.

Selesa Resort is about an hour drive from Shah Alam and it is quite good retreat except that they should improve the food and the service more.

It's been quite amusing to read the various "post-election" analyses. What seems obvious is that the Oppoosition (0r should I say alternatives?), which is now the state government in five states are trying hard to clean up dodgy contracts, policies, etc and start a new era of governance. The ruling goverment, on the other hand, seems so caught up in conducting "postmortems" on what went wrong. How can it be so blindingly clear to the "rakyat" but so unclear to our elected reps?

Didn't we say, in countless instances, that we felt corruption was rife and could see no sign of it reducing? Didn't we say that we felt that the safety of our children and families was not sufficiently protected? Didn't we march in unison, in the thousands, to demand equality and honesty?

What is really hard to understand is ... what is it that went wrong anyway?

Barisan Nasional has still been given the mandate to run the country, with less than twothirds majority in Parliament. Shouldn't our PM be sayingthat this is a good thing? The current status will allow the government to become more transparent and MPs will have to truly perform to gain public trust and support. Both the BN and the Opposition will have to work hard for the peopleto ensure they stay in power. The rakyat now have a positive choice to decide what they want for their future.

Doesn't this show that Malaysia and Malaysians have come a long way, 50 years after independence?

The bottomline is clear. What our leaders need to do is :

>> Work for the the people. (This is what a goverment is supposed to do in the first place)

>> Appoint ministers with sound education and intelligence.

>> Listen to grievances of the people with an open mind.

>> Raise salaries of deserving government servants to make corruption ineffective.

>> Give incentives to deserving police personnel.

>> Move away from racial and religious issues. The election marks the start of better governance.

Being apolitical.

It has always been a mistake or should I say, things that we take for granted when refering to the public or civil service/servant. They are and always will be "serving us, the people". The government of the day, which ever the political affiliation shall allways be the administrator. They do not own us nor are we accountable to them.

Pulau Batu Putih ... no more

Well we lost an island if you and its territorial water because ... some people took it for granted. Many would have considered it just a piece of rock, but now all the hue and cry. Luckily we did not even loose out right Batuan Tengah (Middle Rock) and hopefully we will get Tubir Selatan (South Ledge).

Why this happen ? Who were incharge of Foreign Affairs at that time ? Before independence maybe its up to that guy from the Johor State Secretary. The Johor State Government should really look into this and make sure it doesnt happen to Pulau Pisang.

Today this blog gets a new name. Cinta Alam Malaysia. Its all about accepting that we can only be proud of who we are when we put the loyalty to the country more than anything else. When I say this, the only thing that supercede this statement shall be if the country that officialize my being goes totally against my belief in Islam.

For others maybe their religious belief. We are born with differences that we cannot change. However, the upbringing, the surrounding and the people arround us can effect the way we think and do. Today ... political situation had change, and most people are worried, however much more are beginning to realise that this could be for the better. We cannot dictate our opinion on others but we sure can encourage them to agree.

Therefore ... as long as we take our freedom right, others must learn to respect them too.

Most people wants to be proud of being Malaysian and we should prosper together. However, some just forgot about the others and think that only they and their thinking supercede others.

How do you judge whether a person is patriotic, less patriotic or not patriotic at all to the country in which the lives? Generally it is difficult to judge another person's level of patriotism until he has committed an act that is deemed patriotic or otherwise. Thus the best thing anyone can do is to avoid labelling another as patriotic or unpatriotic.

It is an emotive word and can cause a lot of unnecessary resentment among those negatively labelled. While the Oxford English Dictionary defines a patriot as a person who is devoted to and ready to defend his or her country, the definition raises the question of how to measure a person's devotion to and readiness or willingness to defend his country. Without having to wait for a demonstration of devotion to or willingness to defend the country, it is generally assumed that those who live as good and law-abiding citizens are in a sense patriots.

There was a public furore not too long ago after the Information Ministry declared that those not flying the Malaysian flag on Merdeka Day are not patriotic. among the question that were asked then were: is just flying the Jalur Gemilang in the compound of your house sufficient indication that you are a patriot, is a person who does not fly the Jalur Gemilang but buys only Malaysian-made products not a patriot or is a person who refuses to send his children to universities abroad in order to contribute to the nation's savings on foreign exchange but does not fly the Jalur Gemilang not a patriot?

Must he sings the Negara Ku loudly to be a patriot? Is a developer who avoids cutting down trees to save the environment when building his houses less a patriot than the man who climbs Mount Everest to plant the Jalur Gemilang at the summit?

The statement that Malaysian youths are getting less patriotic begs the same questions, more so when the statements is made based on a recent government study. The Youth and Sports Ministry which made the statement must make public the content of the report for everyone to know the criteria used in concluding that today's youths are getting less patriotic. Otherwise the ministry and the government stand to lose a lot of credibility insofar as the youths are concerned.

But to win them over to be patriotic and to be involved in nationbuilding, they must be persuaded to see the relevance of every aspect of this nation - its development, its history, its culture and its symbols - to them

The prime minister yesterday unveiled a comprehensive reform of the country's graft-busting effort, including powering up a more independent Anti-Corruption Agency.

This is what the public wants, now lets hope the ACA will be able to perform their duties better and at the same time, signal those with intention to corruption, to be beware.
