Yesterday I was at EON Glenmarie Service Centre to do the 5000KM service for our PERSONA. However it seems this promotion was not at all publicize and that seems funny., more awkward. Probably since EON is not the main player anymore, they seems not be bothered.

Anyway for all its worth, all "players" concern with regards should really buck up if they ever wants to compete with the bigger player starting with continuous quality products and services.

Kalashnikov designer is now Russia's hero

The Star, November 12, 2009

MOSCOW: The designer of the Kalashnikov was named a "Hero of Russia" by president Dmitry Medvedev who lauded him for creating "the brand that every Russian is proud of".

"In our country, such phenomena do not happen every day," Medvedev told Mikhail Kalasnikov after decorating him with a gold medal at a lavish reception dedicated to the rifle's creators 90th birthday.

"I mean not only the Kalashnikov rifle but also the national brand created by you, which makes every Russian proud, makes him feel he is part of history."

"Hero of Russia" is the nation's highest honorary title.

Dressed in a general's parade uniform decorated with two Soviet-era "Hero of Socialist Labour" gold stars, a frail-looking Kalashnikov clinked champagne glasses with Medvedev.

Created in 1947, the Kalashnikov, also known as the AK-47, is known for its reliability and simple design. It is officially in service in 55 countries and adorns several national emblems.

Millions of counterfeit versions are thought to exist and the rifle is so widespread that it is often said to have killed more people than any other weapon.

"This is not my fault that this weapon is not used where it should", Kalashnikov, his voice trembling, said at the Kremlin ceremony. "This is the fault of politicians, not designers, I made it to defend the borders of the fatherland." - Reuters

Now isn't that nice, being recognised as a hero. His invention being use for the wrong and right reason. Here in Malaysia and just about any country in the world, somehow politicians seems to be making the news, and most of all sometimes for the wrong reasons.

I read this from the late Capt Yusof Ahmad aka The Ancient Mariner, way back (wed, Feb 25th, 2009) and felt it appropriate to add on to this issue, a story related by his friend ...

My old friend Capt. Gian Singh Sehmi sent me this old joke which I think is still relevant and funny:

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, "I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week." The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a policeman comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, "I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week." The cop is happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, "I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week." The professor is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.'

Then, a Member of Parliament comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, "I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week." The Member of Parliament is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Members of Parliament all lined up waiting for a free haircut!

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the Members of Parliament.

Setiap tahun, kita menghadapinya, selain dari kehilangan nyawa, banyak harta benda yang rosak. seteruk mana kita, apabila kita teropong diseluruh dunia, di negara lain, seperti Filipina, Indonesia, lebih teruk lagi.

Untungnya jadi rakyat Malaysia.

Ramai yang masih tak bersyukur lagi.

Malaysia - Tanah air ku

Saya nak pinjam senikata lagu Sudirman bertajuk WARISAN.

Disini lahirnya sebuah cinta
Yang murni abadi sejati
Disini tersemai cita cita
Bercambah menjadi Warisan

Andai ku terbuang tak diterima
Andai aku disingkirkan
Kemana harusku bawakan
Kemana harusku semaikan cinta ini

Betapa
Dibumi ini ku melangkah
Keutara selatan timur dan barat
Ku jejaki

Aku
Bukanlah seorang perwira
Gagah menjunjung senjata
namun hati rela berjuang
walau dengan cara sendiri
Demi cinta ini

Ku ingin kotakan seribu janji
Sepanjang kedewasaan ini
Ku ingin sampaikan pesanan
Aku lah penyambung warisan
